Yeah, sorry, prolly shoulda added context but wanted to quickly save that post for making fun of shenanigans at a later date. Had been working on a "submission" but I guess it's more of a fan fic and that was one of the responses to it. by all means it's unpolished etc. but wasn't expecting that sort of a response, even quickly flipping through others' submissions i saw blatant very early spelling errors and tobs "baby bag" level sexual descriptions in them, which I'm not naming names or throwing insults it's just the standard for posts is very inconsistent. i also probably overreacted, but i dunno some 75% of the community and devs are just off and I like maybe one or two users i've met there. like sure, toss a "are you sure you put this in the correct forum, this is linear and should probably be in the fan fic section", toss some criticism, "bro kas doesn't act like this, arona doesn't act like this, your wording is off, this seems too edgy maybe lighten it, there's not enough dialogue/there's too much dialogue the structuring needs work etc", but instead a post like that from a dev, another one from the gameplay lead. people talked about how i "sidestepped criticism" but i couldn't even see any besides "you're stupid and stubborn", "stop writing", and basically "it's just a porn game bro".

hard to put into words without just sounding like a disgruntled fan but it came across to me basically like instead of a metaphorical boss saying "youre fired, your performance in x y z was low, here's how to do better in the future" it was "youre stupid, your idea is bad and you should feel bad youre fired" while the rest of the employees said "yeah you tell em boss, that guys a friggin idiot XD" while a page away theres someone poorly writing about sucking a dog mans dick getting "hm yes please enable comments"

by all means you don't have to baby people or anything but its just not a very welcoming place. tobs has a active reputation for salt mining and trying to intentionally piss people off, fans and apparently fellow official writers and it's waved off like "oh you!", bubblelord does the same thing but also doesn't even particularly care about the story, one of his original plans was to have takahiro and kiyoko drink a aphrodisiac wine and to bang rapidly and in great detail. (i have zero ideas why they even let him on to be honest, idve hired an additional artist, coder or given wsan a raise or something), savin has jack-all management capability and clear biases. with how anal (heh) they are about each of their characters the brienne hobgoblin issue imo is a really big deal. like sure, in the grand scheme of things a character gets assaulted in a porn game, ok whatever, but you think they'd let kinu get chucked in the orc tavern hogtied while one of them is pissing on whichever love interest watching she has? or even takahiro or leofric to be BTFO? and how many people do you know of that say "yes i love kinu she's wonderfully written, well executed, great character" or "leofric, takahiro and nakano really are just better than my character, i see absolutely no way that they could be countered"
"i love cait she's so wonderful and i enjoy her being so prevalent, banging everything but somehow having control over what i bang". probably not too much? how about "i friggin love brienne when can we marry her"? that's serious disrespect when someone nobody likes is given a great deal of respect but the character that appeals to a large majority of the playerbase, that the author has spent a great deal of time emphasizing being monogamous and cultivating randomly gets a purposefully brutal gang rape scene that has a variable for if she's pregnant, a zone before you can eventually marry her. anybody think azami's going to be able to be player ntr cumflated before getting with takahiro? i mean its just a porn gameTM surely they should have no problem with that.


tldr context was my fan fic being poorly received, most members and staff are weirdly standoffish and snarky imo, some staff blatantly like pissing off co workers and fans, and as said prior on this thread it seems like brienne's popularity isn't inspiration for tobs and savin to get good or maybe give fans what they want instead of totally owning a forum user from who knows how many years ago (hirrud, raphael, possibly others), it looks like they want to actively sabotage her design, and with savin pulling a "now now children" and not putting his foot down and giving a public apology to wsan, it looks unprofessional, biased, and if i was wsan i'd be pissed, doubly so that nobody on the official team openly supported me.

most members and staff are weirdly standoffish and snarky because they're all literally ridiculously insecure and you're talking to them on the one platform where they hold some semblance of power and control

This is honestly not surprising. I've long felt the team as a whole were very elitist over the content in their game (I mean, the suggestions segment of their site basically all but tells you to fuck off from the get go), when it really isn't this golden masterpiece they like to tell themselves it is. Especially when a lot of the games are just the same content over and over again. Anything of Tob's is like a damn word salad. It's like trying to jerk off to a dictionary.

Honestly though. And a little outreach goes a long way as well. If Savin or Tobs actually tried communicating here I highly doubt they'd get attacked, barrage of questions and concerns sure, but not attacks. Most devs with games that find their way to this site that choose to communicate with us usually see more subs (like me).

If they got real criticism, it could only help the game, not hurt it. Like Dark Knight being written as a total douche... why? None of the other corrupt NPCs act like that, why does the champ? It circles back to, "Why are you making a corruption-based game if you don't want to? Why penalize the player for interacting with the corruption system you put into place?" Just remove the option to become corrupt if you don't want players doing that, and call the game "Belharian Oops Oughta Be Saved" or something lmao Ignore the dumb name, was just trying to get an acronym for Boobs

I think my impressions and interactions with this game are summed up by the following. "Hey I liked COC 1 I'll give this a go. hey some neat characters of the start this is kinda neat. fast forward anything I like at inception is usually ruined by the direction it's taken, or just ignored after introduction, but things i'd rather ignore is where the vast majority of the development seems focused. I guess time to throw in the had promise but they fucked it pile and more on."

That's my thing. They get mad when people go into the game expecting more CoC1. Doesn't make any sense. Obviously I'd go into CoC2 expecting more of similar content because they have the same name. I'll say again, they never had any desire to make a CoC game. They only wanted the clout of the first game to help make their game. Savin knew that he didn't have the same rep as Fenoxo did at the time, and that being the writer of Kiha wouldn't make people trust him in making a whole game. However, if he had the CoC title people would assume that there would be oversight, if not just mentorship, from Fenoxo given that it's his IP. As it turns out, Fen has no input whatsoever and no libido to run his own game let alone course-correct this one.

If only Alder had thought to name FoE CoC2 instead. No doubt greater care would have been taken to actually connect the first game to the second.

Also, I still can't wrap my head around Kas being the villain. Sure she's corrupting people, but they're literally grooming children already. Not to mention that it's just a thing that's accepted. No one says "Yo Mr. White, you ever think them using religion to make children into prostitutes is wrong?" They just go "Oh those wacky Catholics and their traditions." (No hate, Irish Catholic) How much worse could it get?

I don't think of it as Kas being THE villain but A villain. One of many that my pure character would purge and my corrupt character would subjugate. Though the catboy god of groomers is on the purge list for both...

I agree, while I enjoy Kas, she's kinda got a "mask" of misunderstood villain they push, and hide all the "whoa hold up" stuff like her breeding slave basement in a corner that's brushed off. Imo I feel like they should make her more evil upfront, and cause more friction between people you know. Like this is the person that is supposed to be causing so much strife, to the point of a living "god" bursting through the roof and needing to intervene because she let a Cthulhu-ish entity in that's caused permanent changes and non-sexy corruption to the land, like the painted demons (think that's their name). At first sure she's a menace, but with her backstory involving literally breaking necks after being violently assaulted, turning others into demons, causing stuff like the centaur village and the raiders, ryns sister, connection to caits sister, the reactions just feel weird. Everyone just goes "oh you're hugging and banging her that's kinda wacky and weird".

Theres just a lot of tonal whiplash, like they want the underwater Lovecraft dungeon with your party breaking down. They proposed one of your daughters with kiyoko being burnt in an attack but moved it to what's now known as rindo. they want cait hurling herself at a wall screaming for her sister while you hold her back. they want gweyrs bloody defense of the village. kas' previously mentioned backstory. They want stuff like the red mage when you first save caits dad almost being choked to death. They want komari begging to die. They want kinu and kiyokos parental drama past the honeymoon stage. But then they try to front it as just being a porn game.

Imo they seem to want to make an adult story with smut included instead of the reverse or equal, and should embrace that. If you put "and then she knew what she had to do, she cut down all the teenagers, covered in blood and intestines surrounded by bodies", or "my mother kept assaulting me until I finally snapped her neck", or "father they attacked while you were away, there was fire everywhere, we were so scared, my brothers and sisters were screaming", at what point does it need to stop being pushed as just a porn game?

Instead of making her U-U-U-ULTIMATELY obscene and corrupted (which will make some player like her in a "this shit is fuu-u-u-ucked, I know it but I still like it...fuck my stupidly horny brain" way, and most of a players hate her) he went onto a road of "she victim of circumstances, shes pretty good...while not rape things....and corrupt things...and steal souls...and cause mass genocide...and creates highly unstable interdimensional portals that threats a whole existence of a universe...promice shes a good gal, no really"....which is yes, possible, but he lack both experience and intelligence to do so. Ego of a sizes of an everest are not helps here.
