This shitstorm also making me question why they even saddled B with Agni to begin with. The one companion for writer rule is obviously dogshit since to this day Savin himself still has both Cait and Arona, but if you really wanna enforce that for reasons and you really wanna delete Hugs from the game might as well have had B properly adopt Berwyn and scrap the chicken altogether (can't miss what you never had, and around 2 people would miss her anyhow).
They didn't saddle B with Agni, B created Agni because he wanted to, it's his character. He earned a companion slot.

Telling B that he gets a companion slot but doesn't get to write his own companion would be kind of a dick move.

Because this team isn't known for their dick moves :KEK:

B also works on . Not sure what part of his work on commission earned him a companion slot, but since it's supposedly a , on commission, don't see how paying him to work on one thing rather than another (namely an arleady existing companion rather than a brand new one [who's got nothing since her release 8-9 months ago anyhow)] would be a dick move.

Hold up...we losing Ryn too?¡
Nah, they haven't touched Ryn. Think my guy's just understandably shaken from having spent his life savings on the porn game Corruption of Champions 2 :KEK: Better than root beer and scams i guess :KEK:

He's been around since CoC1, he's done a lot of stuff.

Every other author got to create a companion they were attached to (sometimes to an unhealthy amount, see Hugs).

Making someone pick up the slack on a character they didnt create because of another authors failures, for the entire length of development (2-3 more years) is a good recipe for something getting dropped. Or just really shitty content.

Heck, maybe he did ask B, and B straight up said no.

Though loosing Ryn as a companion would not be a big deal for me as I never really took her with me because I have already enough people and it is still hurting my suspension of disbelief of why we only can take two so I just let her stay in her castle ruling.

With all of Savins constant whining about how hard Etheryn is to code/write for it would not at all shock me if uncompanioning Berwyn was a test to see how people would react so he could do the same to them. If the uproar continues so they have to backpedal Ryn probably stays, if people start blowing smoke up their ass about how brave it was for them to make this difficult choice (gag) expect the same thing to happen.

It is indeed a terrible risk. With companions like Quint, Azzy and Atugia who haven't see any meaningful content in the last year, much better to scrap Berwyn altogether so that B can freely work on Agni (also no content since her release, 9 months ago).

In all seriousness though, if you wanna go by the angle that 'forcing' the paid writer to work on something he was down with working on would have been wrong, then look for someone else who can adopt Berwyn or simply don't touch him. An abandoned wolfboi at the inn would have hardly ruined this very much not perfect game.

Could've also just straight up kept him as a token companion even with no more content coming, since most other companions are half-abandonded anyway, but i guess that's a too obvious solution.

Look for someone to commit to several years of working on a character that wasn't already doing anything and could be trusted to stick around the whole time?

Trusting the wrong person to do that is literally the cause of this whole problem.

All the other companions have still gotten dialogue and scenes in recent content, like Dawnsword stuff, scenes like Serena in KM etc....except Berwyn.

And not to harp on the obvious, but I would think there's a fairly good reason Agni hasn't gotten any content in 9 months - B was working on Berwyn.

I just don't see the upside of what you're suggesting. Leave him like he was, never to be finished and missing essential components? Why?

This way he got more content, a finish to his story, and once B finishes porting the old scenes, everything he ever had minus like two or three threesomes he was involved in.

Do y'all think COC2 would've been better if the PC went solo instead having companions, or at least if companions came in a form similar to the camp followers in COC1? I personally would have preferred it to be that way honestly.
Nah, I hated that. I always wished they did something- maybe you could send them out to go on adventures or something, and they could tell you later. A party that doesn't go with you anywhere isn't a party.

Plus, solo combat in RPGs sucks.

Yes.
We're nothing but a damn extra in this game while the other characters are waiting for us so they can finally start their melodrama they call character arcs.

You mean insanity, because what sound-minded individual would keep coming back to this game unless they're a masochist. Which I'm not, I just want to see how much pain I can take.

Ngl, I forget she exists until someone here mentions her. She just kinda doesn't strike me as someone I want on my team. I get approached by weird old lady that gives me a feather, I think to myself "What's this feather for?" put it in a chest just in case, and then forget about it lmao

What will probably happen is weeks of them explaining why it was a good idea, and the ones outraged will be cowed by other patrons/supporters because "It's their vision they know what's best!" Which is a flawed argument because Yandev is like, right there...

Edit: Added a y to insanity, covid brainfog real ngl
