I haven't looked at Daughter for Dessert but I will.
But rather than looking at the extreme successes, look over the entire ecosystem (this site is excellent for that by listing discontinued and abandoned games). The taboo genre was the next big thing (greatly helped by the fact that 95% of incest porn vids suck). So there were MANY success stories--far more than just DMD, BB and DoD.
What's left that is great are the Daz renders. In and of themselves these can be mesmerising enough to addict players. But it's not enough of a "grabber". People with extreme tastes--IMO people most likely to pay for porn--will look elsewhere.

Highly recommend a look at Daughter for Desert. That developer has several other products under his belt and DfD is scary good. I’m hoping that MDots continues to develop with his own style and get to the quality of many if the elements in DfD.

Has anyone else noticed that in several places D refers to the MC by the name you are asked to input? This isn't a problem or a negative, really, but it's weird. One example: When you're in the bar and say "You're really maturing and I couldn't be more impressed with you!" and D responds with "Thanks, [name]" rather than "Thanks, Dad." There are several other places where this occurs, even thought she calls me Dad or Daddy everywhere else. Is D starting to call the dad by his first name? Or is this a residual issue from the "patreon-safe" version?

Before entering the bar, F warns D against calling him “Dad” in that setting. My issue is every girlfriend I’ve had only called(s) me by my first name when they’re angry at me.

My favorite two bits of this release because they just crack me up given D’s passive demeanor and how they play in my head - both come out of the green apple scene with Vicky:

[D tells V she has a bf route]
{V throws the apple to the ground}
V - “Here’s your shitty apple by the way!”
{D sitting hands crossed}
D - (My apple...)
D - (Sigh)

[D doesn’t say anything to V route]
{V throws apple at D - hitting her in the left temple}
{D with closed eyes and pursed lips}
D - Ouch!

D has that adorable cuteness to her, kind of like when a puppy runs across a kitchen floor, can’t stop, slides into the kitchen cabinets.

There have been multiple posts here, over multiple days, telling everyone that 16.0 IS NOT COMPATIBLE!
You have to do 14.5 and save to 16.5 which is then compatible with 17.

actually you can import a 14.5 save also directly to 17.0
