Cops are only available if you are on Vanessa's route. Vanessa isn't considered a teammate, she is the leader of the team. And Steph is the exception, but you can't Romance her if you are on Vanessa's path.

What about Ellie? Pretty sure I date Step but still able to romance Ellie later.
You can start dating both, but later you will have to choose to go to the pub with either ellie or Steph. This decision will decide which route will continue.

You'll have to choose one of them eventually. Jenna and Lydia eventually open up to being the MC's side pieces, but the other main girls are mutually exclusive.

So you have to not go on date with Step to be on Vanessa path? No wonder I completed missed Vanessa path the first time I played. There are no indication at all that could happen unless you use the walkthrough. I only discover there is Vanessa path when stumble on a random comment here.

If you read her messages with Sam, youi will know they are best friends. Sam even switched to sleep with Ellie instead of Emma.
What is happening there is at the morning she changed in front of you. You have to remember what Helena said about Ellie, she becomes more dominant when a woman is involved, that is her side showing up.
The video-game is Ellie being a mommy girl, this is what White Phantom says about Ellie: "Ellie & Emma are basically "Mummy's Girls" in private which is why she knows everything about them, and also why Ellie will immediately side with her Mum in any arguments with Samantha."
