Well yes, people can expect whatever. But if every dev adhered to what a certain group of players expect things to be, every game would be the same. That's boring.
Velle from Mythic manor is another good example of that kind of thing done well in my opinion. She is a ram demon that needs semen to live so she goes from fucking a bunch of guys to being exclusive to the MC once you build your relationship with her.

Now, this is just a guess, based on the treatment that the demon gives the boy (and that she has sex with another), without amoebargo it could change making the protagonist grow balls and have a growth becoming an alpha.
Personally, I hope and recommend the dev DO NOT DO PATHS, if the MC is going to be pathetic and is going to suffer then he should do it and that the game is that, but make a path where he becomes dominant out of nowhere so that in the other be a pathetic crybaby it is simply silly and useless, I will wait a couple more versions and if in the end the game will sit on this content I will just skip it.
