Yeah it's something you learn the hard way after a few of your favorite games get abandoned. Then you just expect all the games you play on here to never get finished anyway so you never get too upset

These devs would be sorted for life if they actually stuck to it the whole way through. So much potential with so much encouragement right from the off, with money streaming in, in a way that most could only dream of. Give that opportunity to your average, everyday Joe Bloggs stuck in the rat race and he'd bite your hand off before you could finish the sentence.
Of course, there is a lot of skill, knowledge and time that goes into making these games, I understand that, but one could live off the income while the game is still under development without ever having most of the problems of 9-5, blue-collar or any other normal over-demanding, under-paying jobs with bosses to answer to. It's a get-rich-quick scheme for all intents and purposes, let's not get it twisted. I don't know of any jobs provide opportunities with an offer that lucrative. Yes, you are feeding off of (some) people's (uncontrollable) fetishes and kinks and a lot of people will pay unreasonable amounts of money to experience them but it's their money and hardly a moral endeavour in the first place to worry about that sort of stuff, no one is really forcing them to pay anyway, these people could easily enjoy all their whims and desires for free from sites like this.
The games don't even need to be that good all the way through so long as they finish with a decent story (and from what some of these devs come up with, they know what they're doing), people just want to experience a complete story with an ending with good-satisfactory writing.
If some of these devs can't handle even this level of pressure where fans aren't actually asking for much and actually are only holding the developers to their own words, then they're in for one hell of a rude awakening when they have to get normal jobs (because they couldn't hack the pressure of porn game development...) in the real world where it's dog-eat-dog and no one cares about your feelings.

Developers quit for a reason, for one the money they get is not comparable even to a 9-5 job unless you are DrPinkCake and they work probably more than average joe and gets way more hate and pressure all the time.

It depends on the 9-5 job and how many patrons you have, but you don't need DPC's level of support to have a decent income. Sure if you start expecting to reach DPC, you'll really be disappointed. Start treating it as a hobby before a job. But it requires a lot of dedication over several years.
The first reason to quit, imo, is "burnout" or lack of motivation once the novelty wears off.

We shouldn't say those bullshitt things about dev when he is 'burnout' for saying continuos lies around 8 months and starting to change his focus to new game without giving any information to patreon... Not sure if this sarcasm or not. But thats absolutely not true. Most of the people actually supported him and, 99% who "whine" now was on his side back then. The boiling point was in october-november 2022, when the update bar was on 100% ready and then Dev himself said that it's basically finished mater of 2-3 days, he even mentioned that he planned the surprise release, but a little problem have ocurred, - "nobody don't need to worry", then week after week he was coming up with more and more bullshit, sometimes he just skipped his weekly report, and then in january he just dissapeared. I didn't mention the previous update where there was a similar situation, him wanting create another game, bitching about how tired he was. So yeah the update was never delivered in the end, it's probably not even close to completion, he didn't spend much time on it, just did his own things, sometimes upload some wallpaper to show some activities. It's not the people fault, they believed in him until the end, thinking he was a nice guy. So this dev deserves all the hate.I always knew this was going to happen eventually but I hoped it wouldn't. Oh the poor wee devs. Get a life dude, wake up and smell the coffee. We have a full scale wars going on in the Ukraine and other places. I have no sympathy with snowflake devs. I once had a job defusing mines in South Sudan. The pay for that was actually shit but it was a job.
