It was
estimated that family updates would be around half the size, generally speaking. It is not accurate to conclude the time it will take is half of the last update—as has been mentioned repeatedly, we don't do release estimations until we can
actually estimate when it will come out. Please refer to
this. And like previously mentioned, work did not start until January 11th (so about a month ago) + business side of things and life have taken up chunks of time. We are not robots.
On top of that, the progression logs are used to give people something more visual to see progression. You are free to guesstimate based on how that moves. However, I refer to it as "guesstimate" because estimations based on it will not be accurate. Some periods of progression will move the bars very little, other times they will move a lot. This varies depending on the specific tasks being worked on, issues that are run into, or other things that may or may not happen to take up extra time—like the business side of things.
To expand on the "growing pains" a little bit: I am still not actively working on the new updates, because there is a lot of work to do in the background to make everything work long-term. No one wants everything to slow down later, or even crash and burn, which is why I'm working so hard to get everything to fit together before I jump into new updates.
