Why is there a boat in here?
The good one visual novel with pretty interesting plot concept — take part in the war between gangs (Mafia, Syndicate, Street Dudes, Yakuza/Triad, Federals), convince them to take your side and work together, become new ruler. Sounds like classic Grand Theft Auto plot, huh?
The setting is good. At first I thought that it's steampunk. But then I realized that it's cyberpunk with magic. The society with powerful gang's corporations and doesn't give any fuck goverment. But there is poison pill — Prologue. It sucks. In the beginning it dumped on your face a bunch of toponyms. They tell you absolutely nothing about the world. There was the war between humans and demons — that's all that I got from prologue. Well, you're open to blame me, if I accidentaly skipped some details.
The second thing — Humans suck, Demons rock. For the endind of Chapter 2 it looks for me like poor demons try to get rid of human douchebag exploiters. I'm trying to avoid asking to add gray morality, but if things are that easy... Huh...
Main Character is... The good point — sometimes you're allowed to choose the way, how to interact with allies. The bad one — who the fuck Main Character is? Uh oh amnesia. How the fuck two demons meet MC? Why MC? Who was MC before? Again, you're still open to blame me, if I accidentaly skipped some details.
On the contrary, girl's arcs are brilliant. They are perfectly connected with their gang, family or racial things and fit to plot concept. Well, maybe Nyla story is rushed a bit.
In conclusion, I was glad to take a sight of this VN. I'm waiting for next updates.

Hey guys, hope you're enjoying Valentine's Day. First of all, I just want to extend a big thank you to everyone who has supported the Hearth so far! It's been a tough winter but seeing appreciation for the project has been very encouraging.
As for the update, I'm still working towards its completion. A lot of personal issues have been cropping up that's made it difficult to finish an already large update in a timely fashion. As it stands, the update will likely be a few more weeks away.
I'm aiming for a release on the first week of March at the latest. However, I am hoping to push it out sooner, so wish me luck! Previews will resume the week afterwards, alongside the release of a collection of the game's CG images, which will be available to all my patrons.
I also want to assure that future updates shouldn't take as long as this one. I don't want to make a habit of renewing old content too frequently, but I did feel that now was the best time to make some major changes before moving forward.

I wanna say join the discord and let Konvel know himself. He's doing all this by himself and I'm sure he'd appreciate having the feedback. Although I absolutely agree, he has a way of really creating an atmosphere. He's a great author and I'm positive he appreciates all the kind words.

God, after leaving the game on a sour note about a year(?) ago or so, I actually came back to see what was it that marred the experience for me. Well, sure enough I found it, and to my surprise - it was Astrid.
I honestly cannot think of another character from any game I have played whatsoever that rubbed me up the wrong way, the way Astrid does and that is a pretty tall order. Yeah, there's pretty cut-and-dry hateable villains out there and all that evoke anger the way they are supposed to, but this feeling of unease that you get when you walk into certain doom, yet moving forward regardless because of morbid curiosity is something I haven't manage to feel for quite a while. I guess that shows some excellent writing? Since I have now replayed the most recent version twice - both times in one sitting each - her earlier actions in the story put into perspective really show that she has seemingly no compassion or empathy for anyone, even those who would consider her a friend. She sees even those close to her as nothing but useful tools or pawns on a playing field for her to direct. Obviously not helped by her jester act at all times, she's even more faceless than the masked Alumbra you see. In that regard, she's even worse than the MC could be with his mission.
At this point, I feel like she might be an irredeemably evil character. It even gets to the point where I actually would feel a sense of relieve to see actual harm come her way, to see the empire surrounding her come crashing down with her at the centre, all out of spite for her actions. That is sure something I didn't think was possible.
Man... Can't wait for the new update to come out because fucking hell, I have been hooked. Who knew that porn games could have writing as excellent as that?

If you're not in the discord already, I'd hop in lol. But yeah, Astrid is uhhh.... A character. For sure. I'd love to hatefuck her for sure lmao. I'm still holding out hope she's not as much of an irredeemabe piece of shit as Konvel's wrote her out to be, cuz I find her aloofness for the lack of a better word to be one of her cuter traits.

Joined and supported, fuck it, this is worth it truly.
But really, Astrid coming back to redeem herself seems like a lost cause at this point to me, though I'm more than willing to hope that it will turn around eventually, given that she is seemingly a mainstay cast thoughout the story. I'm not above hoping that we can eventually change her... However:
Writing characters one can resonate with requires them to either have a relatable goal or traits that actually make them endearing to the player. Both of which seems unlikely at this point as she has been painted to be deadly callous in persuit of her own agenda and having signs of being a straight-up psychopath. Not in the (for those kind of games somewhat typical) yandere sense, but rather in the sense that she isn't even aware how her actions are just morally wrong and barely justifyable - even in a world as harsh and deadly as the one the game takes place.
She truly is a remarkable character though. But just like you pointed out her act and aloof behaviour - which are indeed endearing traits of her - at this point we couldn't even be sure this isn't part of her scheme to win any person over only to be springing the trap, sort of like a very talkative venus flytrap.

I mean Astrid has, at a very young age, been thrust into the position of leading a major house. I feel that if she wasn't ruthless she'd be dead a long time ago. And I definitely get the feeling that if she hadn't detached herself she'd go crazy. Not that she's a bastion of sanity as it is. She doesn't seem happy about her life.
I have a "love-hate" relationship with Astrid.
I really love her personality and the mask she uses to talk to other people, but I hate the fact that she thinks she can do whatever she wants to the people around her just because she belongs to House Luzatto.

This is one of those games in which the progress of the main story and the individual girls is interlocked to an extent. So no matter what, you will eventually hit a roadblock where you have to progress someone else to continue.
Sorry about that, I've been meaning to post another status update but this release has definitely been a shaky one and I didn't want people holding their breaths until I know for sure that I can deliver.
I'm hoping to have better news soon, but until then wish me luck. I've failed to meet my goals several times now, but I definitely don't want to let March escape.
