Alright, my take on some of the bad and the not actually bad stuff:

Also, despite having written an entire block of text about the bad parts, I want to touch on a few good moments that stood out to me, just to balance it out a little.

Overall, despite all the criticism I can think of when I'm being critical, I consider it a fantastic game, carried by a plot and character interactions that are way above what you see in 90% of media these days.
Which brings me to the saddest part: This is a plot-driven JRPG pretending to be an h-game. You'd have a hard time recommending it to other people because for many it'd just be a coom game, but it's also disliked by many coomers because that just isn't the focus, relegating it mostly to either people who are looking for a good plot-based JRPG and can look past some tits in the process, or what I assume happened to most of us, checked it out ONLY because of the hentai tag and ended up in love with a plot that deserves more attention but can hardly get it because of this impasse.
Anyways, that's my rant over. If you are looking for another supposedly hentai game that's all about the plot and doesn't hesitate to kick you right in the feelings I heavily recommend you play "How to build a magnificent kingdom" if you haven't, it's the game that opened my eyes to this sort of "plot first, porn tenth at best", but in my opinion Roots is the strongest of the two games.

if Naje was the protag in another game this would be a good. sadly polca is the mc. a spinoff of him being the mc would be nice. his biggest flaw is that he was introduced way late in the game. I already mapped my strats at that point.

yea i agree they introduced the last 3 characters a bit late, also the fact that they started at lvl 1 when you recruit them is really annoying

eh I just decided not to do it

2) Even if I meant exactly that, which you're right, I absolutely did (among other things), there would still be nothing wrong with that. Yes, I can "bitch" about wanting less playable characters, while also wanting more Remnants to be playable at the same time. Those two desires are not conflicting with each other. It can simply mean that one prefers them over some of the characters that we got.
if you're saying they should be playable OUTSIDE of polca's party, then sure I'll agree. either I missed that part, or you're only adding that after I called it out.

btw, there's a theory on steam forums saying that remnant scath is working behind the scenes with blondie girl and could also explain why she could "conveniently" throw everyone in Bohelos like a fiddle. the hint was that scath was very quick in activating the nursery when polca went missing

i mean it's a very convincing theory, scathach didn't even wait for Polca body to be cold before activating it lmao, but to be fair it also maybe because they are running out of demons to fight the rebels and need an emergency reinforcement from the nursery

If you haven't figured it out already: It's the "big" looking enemy on the first floor. - Right after you come out of the dark "side" entrance. Should also be a girl there with the same goal of killing the Archmage. - He's right above her.
thank you it seems i killed him without the scroll of weakening

I can't tell if the story is good or bad. On one hand, the whole "desperate invasion" concept is great. It's too easy to screw up a "play as the bad guys" story, but Demons Roots does it well.

But the story progression is awful. Why does Deathpolca get to live in the mansion? Why do the Remnants defer to her? What are her plans? Why does she go to Tortas? Why does she go to Do-Re-Mi? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If we're playing as Deathpolca, the player should be the first to learn the answers to these questions. "Deathpolca, we need you to kill the White Phantom, because only you can infiltrate the kingdom!" would've worked. And "Remnants, I propose you let me go kill the White Phantom" would've worked as well. But not "Bye, I'll be at my estate if you need me. Also, I shall infiltrate the nearby kingdom for... reasons that will become clear 30 minutes later"

Hell, you can even play with the players a little bit, let us connect the dots and feel smart. Tell us about the sex kingdom first, then let us learn they are a great source of intelligence in a separate scene, then let Deathpolca explain that she needs the slave knight's unique... assets for the next mission. Then the players can have an "Aha!" moment instead of a "WTF?" moment.

1) Because she wanted to. Technically this is her mansion, plus this is coziest building in town.
2) She is their kinda sorta super secret agent who did a lot of raids in human territory and genuinely one of the demons who knew how humans think.
3) She doesn't have a lot. Brainwash human leaders and pray you will not be defeated before.
4) Don't remember
5) To buy a "information"

I did not expect this to be a thread with pages of essay long discussions on a h-game's plot's pacing, character writing, and overall synopsis and structure. mfs out here went from jerking off to talking like morrowind forums
