I suspect the negativity got to him. The best chances for a turnaround would be some people joining his Discord to wish him well and hope he comes back to continue the game because we enjoy it. That won't happen of course, but he's a person like anyone, and pressure to perform can get to anyone.

If negativity killed his enthusiasm for the game's development, he should avoid places where it's hitting him, if possible.

Unfortunately for him, the Discord he created for his users isn't really something he can or should avoid.

It's possible that some tragedy hit him, and that's why he broke off communication completely. It has happened with some devs. And, it's certainly possible that, whatever the reason for the communications break, embarrassment is preventing him from admitting where things stand.

At this point, the best way to clear the negativity would be to:

1. Post some message as to the current state of affairs.
2. Stop charges on Patreon if he is not currently working on the game, or at least fulfilling any special content promised to Patreons.
3. If possible, if he does still plan on working on the game, give an estimate on when he thinks he'll get back to it. If he's not taking people's money, and communicates, even an indefinite hold will probably be acceptable to fans. Given his recent history with releases, his mantra should be underpromise, overdrive.

However, it's unlikely this advice will ever reach him, and it would not be surprising if he ignored it even if it did, somehow.

This developer has been doing this for a long time now, it's either false promises or no news at all, only when his patreon decreases tremendously and his patreon dries up, he shows up and then plays pitifully for sympathy and forgiveness from his patreon, and after that it's just the same mistake again, this developer is not a first time offender, he's done this many times before, mind you! Deviant Anomalies started in 2020, it's been over 3 years now and how many times has the developer updated it? He doesn't care about his game at all, he's just using DA's popularity to scam for sponsorship money, and that's all he cares about, his sponsorship money.

I feel conflicted as I type this. On the one hand, I realize Patreon is a creator's patron site and nothing is actually promised, and all of the money donated is just that, donations in hopes that the developer can use it to fund their projects and at the end of the day that may or may not happen. On the other hand however, there should be some sort of system that holds creators like this accountable. I remember at one time when I was subbing to him on Patreon that he was bringing in about $3000 a month at least just from Patreon. As of right now, it appears he has 1332 people subbing to him. This man fell off the map without so much as a "see ya." When he was uploading, it was very spread out at best and we wouldn't hear from him for months until we'd randomly get an update talking about how "speed was his energy" and then the following month or so, we would get an update. Instead of admitting that he had prematurely blew his load with all the characters he introduced and couldn't think of anything else, he just decided to get pissy with everyone and leave while still taking everyone's money. I realize this site doesn't make him any money but one would think that Patreon would have the same guidelines in effect as F95zone. He is still raking in money on Patreon and the last post from him was regarding another crossover promotion for "Ripples" back in March 2023. Version 1.0 still has not been released and this actually was promised by the end of 2022. When it gets to this point Patreon should mark it as abandoned and cut off the funding for the project.

Really, Patreon should have some set time period of no update or communication whatsoever before the pledges all get switched off of the monthly payments to another type. For example, while one creator I still subscribe to is painfully slow, we only get charged when he makes a major game update (you can set a limit to the number of times each month). What exactly that constitutes, I don't know, but I do know that I have only been charged maybe once or twice in the past year or so when they finally released a new build. Unfortunately, Patreon won't do something like that. They still get a cut of the monthly pledges whether the creator makes posts/updates multiple times a week or they have been silent for over a year. Whether the patrons are getting scammed/screwed over means nothing to them as long as they still profit from getting a cut of the pledges.

The developer was really making a good game initially, but after 0.5, Deviant Anomalies was growing in popularity in the face of a rapidly increasing number of sponsors, and after 0.5, the developer was just using DA's popularity to get a lot of sponsorship money for the unearned benefits he felt.

It's certainly possible he's come to the site and seen the tag, but it's equally possible he hasn't. I don't follow his discord, so I don't know if it's been mentioned there. I can't see him coming here as his first stop if he were to protest he hasn't abandoned the game; I'd assume he'd post on Patreon first, to forestall the loss of more subscribers.

But yes, it does seem likely he would ultimately care about the Abandoned status, as it's a "black mark" of sorts against the project, and could deter potential supporters from bothering to go to Patreon and support him (he can't control what people say, but would presumably have some control over the status of the forum, as the owner of the OP).

Dude, do you know what you're talking about, how many times has this developer updated between 2022 and now 2023? How many times has he posted on Patreon for his DA project? You're looking at DA 0.9 which was supposed to be released in September 2022, DA 1.0 which was supposed to be released in early 2023, and it's now the end of July 2023, soon to be approaching 2024.
Then again, the developer hasn't been heard from since March 22nd when he was doing promotions for other games, what's the point of the sponsorship money the sponsors gave him, can he just take the sponsorship money from the sponsors and do nothing with it?
You say the developer doesn't pay attention here, don't you realize that he initially did all the game promotion for DA on the F95 site? Some people have pretty much mastered the pattern of the developer's activities, and the only time the developer posts is when his sponsors have dwindled significantly and his sponsorship money has nearly dried up, then he cries and sells out to gain sympathy and forgiveness from his sponsors, and after that he goes back to earning sponsorship money in silence, without any effort.
Instead of helping him better his DA's game process, the recent sponsorships of him by some people on Patreon will continue to amplify his greed. Who else is going to think about updating DA as a game when you can get $4,000-$9,000 in sponsorships every month for doing nothing? Who could resist the temptation?
Finally, at the risk of sounding presumptuous, are you a former sponsor of this developer? How much do you know about him?
