I like the music in context with the game like . In games with standard music I reduce the volume to the minimum.

An an example of very good acting voice you can find in , really improves the game.

Well, they all pretty much use music from the same sources. Royalty free, bensound etc. Not sure what you mean by standard. I agree about DA though. And personally, i also found selection of tracks in for example to be quite nice.

Question to the community: What is your opinion on music in adult virtual novels? What about voice acting? Is there a demand for either? Just curious.

Probably gonna run a poll at a later date and get some feedback from the patrons as well. Just wondering what the community at large thinks.
1. Music - I think this can really set a scene whether it be sexual, romantic, or atmosphere. Like some people have said it should start low before it comes in so as not to jar the player. like in movies and tv music can really set the mood and turn an okay scene into a fantastic scene. It's all about context. Renpy already gives an option to turn off music so you won't have to worry about that feature.

2. Sound - As with music this can set scenes or moods if done right. It's not required but it can help some people get immersed into the world. Same thing don't make the sound effect super loud and you should be fine. I'll admit the only sound that matters to me in an adult novel is the moaning of pleasure from the female characters (Though this can be put under the voice section as well).

3. Voice - This can make or break a game experience depending on the voice itself. If the voice is good i'm all for it. If it's bad or cheesy, it depends on what story your telling. Like if your making a bad porn or something like that. I wasn't a fan of the Daughter for Dessert voice acting cause it's only in there for a short time so it is a little jarring to stop hearing it all of a sudden.
As @UncleVT said the voice acting in Sylvia is quite superb whether it be the english or french actress.

I'm all for an immersive experience. So these things being added can only be a bonus. I will still play the game if they are not because of the characters and the setting.

Keep up the good fight.

So have any of the endings been completed? Or to be more concise, can you "finish" the game, as of this build?
No, this early into the MC's story. The current release schedule seems almost episodical with stories being told to the doctor. There is sex in the game and it doesn't just suddenly stop if that's a concern, it ends after the completion of one of the stories you tell the doctor.

Thanks stagwood. I actually got to read the patreon reports, and...uh.... reading "finished the introduction" really bummed me out. I'm really looking for long "can be finished" games with pregnancy content/ending and I thought this was the ONE. Oh well...

If you don't mind incest, I'd recommend . It ticks the few boxes you're asking for.

Thanks for the suggestion man! But I already did, and wasn't my thing. I've already abused the pregnancy tag in the "latest update" page so I'm down to checking all popular games and skimming their threads to see any mention of pregnancy content despite have no actual tag of preg.

That's a thing. I like pregnancy too, but the the majority of the games i ever found here with it planned are in the earliest states of development sadly. So there is years before that. I would advise instead of patreon ones try to find some japanese game or novel you'd like with this content. Maybe if you're lucky translated one. That's the safest bet, they love to add pregnancy endings.

I think it's mainly the matter of priorities. Developers of most adult games currently don't have enough resources, and as a result, the pace of development is slow ("glacial" would be more fitting word in many cases). Anything they add has a cost and it's a tradeoff, because it means less of something else. One day I'd like to play an adult game with thrilling story, stunning visuals, all the right sounds and voices, ... that makes Hollywood blockbusters pale in comparison. But we're nowhere close to that. IMHO it's better to focus on basics (story, images) and get that moving. Even animations are dangerous, if I could choose between them and little more of story with few extra static images, I'd probably take the latter in most cases.

From the attempts I've seen so far, voice acting is currently out. Mostly it's just sounds during sex scenes and they are usually more like joke than anything exciting, i.e. no added value for me. For fully voiced dialogs, I remember only DFD and only the free version, so I don't know how much is voiced in full version. Not that it would be bad, currently it's something different to get used to. And not just that it's there. To fully appreciate it, one would have to listen carefully, which in my case would mean reducing my playing speed to half (I'm fast reader). And even if it sounds harsh and ungrateful, I'm not sure that any game is that interesting to spend so much more time on it.

Music could be good compromise for the time being. If you choose the right one that fits the story and scenes, it can have significant positive effect. But it's not easy. I surely liked music in some games. But also found it annoying in others.

Neither Music nor Voices are an important thing for me, if you can get good actors and whatnot, fine, but 99% of games, especially homebrew like these are, can barely get written grammar correct, let alone full blown voice acting.

Agreed I tend to have all the games I play muted anyway, I normally have music or a show on in the background... so yeah audio in these games is of little to no importance to me.

I have to say, after playing this game I am very impressed. The writing is the best i've seen since joining this site. Not only does it make company examination and business client strategys dialogue interesting with some well done research, it also makes it understandably for someone with no personal experience about the work style themself, without dumbing it down. Aswell the characters have some really good dialogue and for once I can feel like the choices I make have an impact without losing parts that are fun. You put it very nicely in your homepage " Your choices change the flavor of the tale, not the outcomes. " It's brilliant!

The very thing telltale lost from its games and you manage to create as simple gamers yourself(with some technical prowess)

I respect the work you are putting into the story, dialogue and characters, hell I feel like I'm learning more about writing myself just by playing your game. Something I would not expect from any games on this site up to this point. You developers have set a new standard for me. I love it and I love you.

We figured it was time we did Emily a little justice. We put together the environment for Roger's mancave for a different upcoming scene, but thought Emily made a nice decoration on the billiard table.
Putting together these wallpapers is good practice for us. It's a chance for us to play with lighting and experiment a little without compromising the game. That said, enjoy another full custom pose set from zero and perfectly fit to Emily.
Cheers Mates and Stay Frosty!

Side note. To bad there isn't a dress that shows off her abs (Seriously stop judging me). Perhaps a future date with the MC or something for the bedroom (A man can dream anyway).
I promise we will give you plenty of opportunities to explore every inch of Monica's body. (y)

So far, all I have published is 1.3 Ranma Fanfics. The first one got interrupted by my partner and editor taking an extended leave, the other took me about 3-3.5 years to write ...my "short story" idea (600k+ words), but it is now complete. The first one was literally the first time I ever tried to write anything in a story format, so it took me a while to figure out what I was doing, the first few chapters are white literally terrible. I leave them to mark my own improvement. Plan to go back to the first one, I have about 25 more chapters planned for it, but I feel weird working on it without my partner and co-creator, so I started designing a few of these game ideas, though they are a long ways form being publishable.

My Sister My Roommate, the art is not as good as yours, and his story is not one in which you can choose all, but the writing is excellent, and the story is fun. I do recommend it. He deserves more attention, but his art, and the posted screen shots are not really good. Molly is adorable! ;p
Amity Park is an open world style adventure, based on Danny Phantom. It's 2D, so if you are not into that, then you might not care for it, but it also went through a major rewrite a while back, and it starting to really come together.
That's awesome. I am unfamiliar with Ranma though. One day, maybe in a distant future when I have free time again I'll have to look into it.

This game still exists? I think I started playing in its early days like half a year ago, and then never saw it in the update feeds here since. I remember checking their website too, but it didn't give much information at the time, or I missed something.
Anyway, judging by the v1.0.4, the "first chapter" is finally done?
We're like a cockroach, we just don't die. Unfortunately no, the first chapter is not complete. We did a reboot awhile ago and have recently reached our previous stopping point. In brief, the lack up updates mid-year was due to a GPU meltdown. But we recovered and with better hardware than before. Hence the improved quality of the current project.

It is all down to preferences though. Ultimately, unless you're confident you're going to be making enough money to spend on it or unless you're confident you have the time and skills to do it all yourself I wouldn't bother much. Many people playing these kinds of games are generally in it for the visuals and the story.
Visuals and story will always be priority number one. We are just kind of looking to the future and thinking about some other ways we can enhance the quality of the game. Music could be a next step, voice acting would be much farther down the line. It's not something we've seriously looked at up to this point. Just taking a reading at the moment.

Yeah, it's a classic anime. A trope starter/namer for many standards we see all over now days. It's pretty long, 162(+13) episodes, 38 volumes, but nothing like the length of One Piece or Dragon Ball at least!
While the fan fics kind of require knowing some background to get all of the jokes/references, if I ever get the game up and running, the intro will explain the premise, so no worries there. ;)

I would suggest if you do add music, see about defaulting the volume controls to something lower than maximum.

I saw this suggestion and the suggestion that the music fade in. Both are great if we decide to add music a few updates down the road. We want people to change their shorts after playing our game. But not because they shit themselves when the music attacked them out of nowhere.
