Actually, I think it makes sense, because while both DF's and DoD's mom's are quite real you use hypnosis on the latter and nothing on the former.Lewdlab delivers a quality game and loyal to his promises and premises, gumdrop on the other hand has a degree in bachelor of arts in blue-balling schmuckery. The Dreams of desire mom doesn't feel nor act like a mom however. There's little to no realism, generic flirtatious, naive and straight I-need-to-fuck-my-son-just-because. Classic adult vanilla mom persona. Husband in coma? Better fuck my son. Caught siblings fucking? Better fuck em both. At least in Dual Family, it realistically approaches separation and broken family drama despite Gumdrop's predatory schemes.
Even to this day, I still hypothesize the game will end with murder or complete breakdown. I'm not expecting a happy ending. I had enough of fictitious fantasy incest, I need something closer to reality since that ain't happening in my life.

You call it white knighting but I hold no stakes in any of it, and if the update materialize tomorrow, next week or next month I don't really affected either way. Would I like to see the next installment soon? Yeah. Also if a creator got issues, real life or other wise he is not accountable to share details with anyone why it is so and so. Some people is very open about share anything in their life from navel lint to fungus between their toes, other people very private about their real life and so on. We can take something someone say at face value and accept it is so and so, or not. But the person in question is not accountable to anyone to spill the beans on why things so and so.
Imho one thing that probably a lot likely to happen with people creating these adult games, is creativity and dry spells. And then set release times for yourself is just plain stupid. You can blame that on bad planning and execution though.
I rather prefer the "it get done when it get done" approach.
It's not about sharing everything about his development or live.
Patreon isn't Facebook so who cares..
It's about broken promises.... Again and again and again.
If you as a creator give hundreds or thousands of people who are paying you the promise that an update is coming around a date and you don't deliver.
Well.... common decency says that you say something about that and be clear about it.
If you keep giving promises about every release and missing every release, then the people who are paying him have every right to question his methods and Work Ethic.
If you give promises about content and don't deliver, we have a right to question about that because we payed because of that promise.
I would even say that he talks to much in this way.
I'f he would just stop give us promises and deadlines, arguments and fights would be way lower.
But he is very smart... Because promises create Hype, and when horny people are hyped they pay for everything

@Jer1cho ninja´d me with his reply above on the money issue. I donated before and I will support creators in the future. I contemplated supporting gumdrop at the beginning, but if you´d followed the thread you will see that gumdrop is a lazy, untrustworthy milker. He disrespects his sheep, eh, donators big time with his behaviour, extreme delays, obvious misdirection ("Progress-bar" I look at you)...
Unfortunately, gumdrop´s game has really nice art and an unusual storyline for a porngame, so patrons and pirates (have to TM that phrase
As for delays in general: I stated it before that I am a freetime writer. I know really well how problematic it can get to deliver quality updates in regular intervalls. But guess what? It can be done and is done by many creators worldwide. And if one update is delayed due to sickness or private things, nobody at F95 would get angry. Real life happens!
BUT: gumdrop never truly delievered on time, with delays rising in number and length along the way, despite his promises. He even openly lied to the audience in some of his posts, as it turned out later on. That is quite different from developers who state early on that updates would come at irregular times.

Well, if people are pledging on Patreon with any other agenda than just support the creator. Wouldn't that make the person foolish to start with? If you pledge for the purpose of just "Oh I want this game, and every update as fast as possible, and even the creator deliver, you will end up with a VERY expensive game end of the day. Well some games have fetish's that you as a player doesn't necessary agree with. Playing a shooter game I don't get the urge to go out and shoot people anymore than I get the urge to rape someone over a scene in an adult game. Rape fetish porn exist for a reason, not my cup of tea though. Funny you mention wootch as I once did pledge a month or two. But expectations wasn't meet, and tbh, if you compare wootch and gumdrop, gumdrop achieved more imho. If gumdrop actually spend of his patreon money for comp upgrades he shouldn't have any "shitty comp excuse" though.
