There's a dev. update every week as you know, but I'll also be sharing another three previews this week! Pinups and other fun stuff too, so keep an eye out.
Part X Progress!
With the roam segments completed, I've spent the past week ripping through the rest of the day/sunset segments. The two heaviest render time-wise segments, the S bedroom and Karen apt, are finished this week!
What remains left of the day/sunset segments are a few time-light stragglers -- house settings like the master BR, kitchen, foyer, and guest room where you'll interact verbally and physically with both main women. These lighter day segments average around 1.5 - 2 hours per render, making them far slimmer than the completed heavier ones, those easily extending past the 4 to 6 hour mark.
More good news -- today I've received shipments of my new rendering hardware! I should acquire the rest of it this week and will begin implementation for rendering immediately. Simply put, this will scale ALL rendering 2x, crushing the longer segments down into more digestible chunks and making the final stretch of fast segments (night/emissives, see previous update for details) that much quicker.
Since last time I spoke about rendering rigs, I've chosen a new combination of hardware that will render the remaining segments faster and cheaper than using 20 individual units. I assume you'd want me to be responsible when making that calculus!
This week, you'll have a better idea which segments are complete/rendering with the progress tracker launching -- more on that later!

Last week, I shared with you my challenges with Part IX, X and their pacing; I find the latter to be a main component of what makes a story tense, enjoyable. Now, I'd like to kick a couple more ideas your way, this time about dream sequences and the dance.
I'm sort of torn two ways about dream sequences; generally, I feel that the player's enjoyment is very dependent on the game's specific story and themes. On one hand, it allows for a visually engaging set-piece with unconventional themes, allowing a break from the story's somewhat predictable reality. But on the other hand, there's often little to no consequences nor actual, tangible relationship development since the sequence is nothing more than a figment, a dream.
This compromise between genuine development and visual, sometimes sexy spectacle is tough, but I believe I've settled a balance going forward. The campiness of skeletons and tackiness of nude imaginings may not riddle Part X, but you'll certainly have experiences in the flesh. That is, if you're charming enough! :]
With the dance throwing at you nearly every character you've tangled with, you'll have a lot to sift through. It'll be up to you to decide what your priorities are, what and who you find most important that night. Will you spend the night chasing after women fair or weathered, seeking romance? Or will you settle scores with men untrusting, for a youth's protection, for justice?
Don't sweat bullets just yet -- you don't have to choose one or the other! With so many events in one place, you will decide what requires your attention hierarchically. Just make sure you scour the crowds and halls thoroughly so you don't miss any of the other characters or their happenings!

The graphics, design and ornaments of the site will be sparse/updated over time -- I wanted to make the progress tracker available as soon as possible. Phase II, the pledging and user system, will follow soon after. For those who'd rather support me directly, that'll be available before the Part X release!

I like to think that Karen did set everything up to make the Father really mad. People may not like Karen, but she is one helluva mastermind to set that up perfectly.So... I've been meaning to ask this for a while... But what exactly happens that night when Karen sneaks in to the house at night, and she starts to strip Mom, and the Son? Does that actually happen? Is that whole thing a set up, and thats why Dad is mad, and leaves in the morning? or is it all just a dream too? It's so confusing, because it's never addressed directly. It happens, and then there's no mention of it again. It left me completely puzzled. Is it just me?

Karen initiated it, she fixed it. She did sleep/hide in the closet.Ok. I played the Father path, and I understand now. It's too bad I'm completely disinterested in the Father side as of right now, but I'll make it a goal of mine to play it every time from now on.
But with that question solved, now I'm a little more dissapointed about this on the Son side. I wish we could have gotten a little more of a reaction out of Mom in the morning. She did act a little strange, but I just brushed it off as her being hung over. I wish GumDrop would have shown her reaction to finding herself in that state after heavy drinking. The game needs a little less monologue from the Son, and instead let us in the head of Mom from time to time.
