Just so everyone get on the same page...
Most "games" here are Visual Novels in effect, which means that it is a story first and scenes later and dialogue to make it into the scenes even later.
Just think about the editing as a very last process in any movie making Odyssey
Better known game makers have separate renders and separate dialogues and separate story.
When and how those get to mingle is up to the developer.
Also ... about developers' dedication - some admit to bleeding on the keyboard from so much dialogue writing while waiting for the renders to cook, others admit to venting (on this forum, in the park, with the wife) after strenuous y ou tu be searching to no avail for answers to their development hick ups.

Wait WHAT!?! LOL, "writing, composition and sex animations that fall within the post-work scope"??
There is such thing as post-work scope after rendering, other than just editing?

If there´s one dude here, who´s a patreon or on his discord group, please ask him, what and how many graphic cards he uses, how many ram his "many" computers have...because it clearly doesn´t add up to his statement he made in the past
He stated that his main machine is 7700k, 16gb of ram and 2x1080ti. He also said that he has "a couple" of titans.

So much for his boasts about how powerful his new rendering hardware is! A year ago he told us glowingly that his new stuff would boost rendering and updates massively! What came out of it? The next (last) update was a month late and pardon me, but even 2800 renders do not take 10+ months to complete, especially with the hardware he insists he has! There are developers here on F95 who have definitly worse equipment than gumdrop, but produce several hundred quality renders each month!
That was just another lie he fed to his delusional patreon supporters to make them think there money was being used to actually develop the game. The funny part is his patreon supporters are so delusional that he doesn't even need to lie to them about using their money to develop the game because they all believe they are "supporting the creator" not paying him to use their money to develop the game. I wish I had a horde of delusional sheep who would give me 8k a month to support my lifestyle and not expect anything in return.

So what keep you from fulfill your wish? :p Everyone can create a game or whatnot, and become some creator on Patreon. Just invest some effort and a few calories into it and you will get your flock of sheep's right?

Well, we already had post-truth as a newly-established political term to refer to a well-known fact (a freaking obvious lie); now, Kyle has invented post-work. To the same effect in a different context. That is, the prefix "post" must be literally understood as"beyond", thus meaning "beyond work". For he has long been in a place far beyond the very concept of work, where you can lie (in every possible sense of the word) on the grass while the sun shines on your face and tipsy unicorns bring you the delightful fruits of everlasting milking.

Amen.

Honestly, im still suspicious about his Patreon revenue.
It just does not ad up!
800 patreons and 7k a month, with no release in a year. Also posts get like 1-5 comments.
It just doesnt make sens.... It makes no SNENS!!!! (yes snens)
There must be some trickery afoot here.
Its not like its the greatest porn game of all time either, its average, arguably even bad.

Can some one explain if there is anyway to trick patreon in anyway?
It seems like a dumb thing, but afaik patreon only takes 5%, so some kind of false patreons, or a tier not shown that is like 5k, and then hundreds of bots on a free tier or something.
Idk really, just thinking out loud, (i actually dont know if this is even possible) but i refuse to belive 800 people pay for over a year for an average game, with no updates what so ever. And at the same time, dont write comments or anything on the patreon page.
Only a handfull (if even that) developers of adult games, have this kind of backing. And all of them release updates on the regular!

Why don't you just contact Patreon directly with a query, and accuse of GD of whatever you suspect of him doing? They can answer your questions better than anyone here. It just lead to toxic conspiracy with no real foundation.

Quoting from a quick google;

"Laundering money takes more than a single transaction and a third party application that collects data on both the sender and receiver of funds is a bad step on the laundering path." - So, you would want to HIDE the source of the funds not make them transparent.

You can google the term money laundering until your eyes bleed out. Then present an actual believable case of money laundering actually take place?

The number of patreons is never constant. Someone that did pledge last year, doesn't necessary did pledge throughout the year, or pledge today. Patreon's come and go. Ee is on a downward trend that won't turn around unless he start provide again.

this thread never fails to deliver.

defenders of DF: you are supporting the project and the dev not in exchange for any thing!

opponents DF: a year has passed with only a holiday episode to show for it (which dev admitted took him 3 weeks). other devs with a fraction of the resources and time have churned out thousands of renders and completed full games.

and then rinse and repeat. never stop guys i keep the popcorn flowing.

Where exactly did i call it money laundering? Did i even mention that? No? Ok!
My point was never that...
My point was that the fact that so many support him is insane at this point.
And that just like you can buy instagram/facebook/twitch/snap followers on different sites, its not to far fetched that a similar thing could exist for Patreon! Even if it would be at a loss of 5% you put in to it, you could possible make that up from staying relevant in a big sea of games, and arguably get more exposure for real patreons, and make back those 5%. I mean people have done the same thing with twitch donations, and twitch takes a MUCH bigger cut!
But like i said i have NO IDEA what the real point of it would be, if its even possible.
But patreons keep paying an average of almost 10eur a month for almost a year now, thats 120eur per year, for a game that have CONSTANT delays, and broken promises, makes no sens!

Well I assumed it because this whole "money laundry" scheme been brought up earlier in the thread. When you pledge on patreon you need to transfer the money through somewhere. Visa, Mastercard, PayPal... It's not like you can just drop some coins on a slot and then all sorted. I assume Patreon got some checks in place that would raise red flags if someone created many user accounts that would use the same credit card, paypal or something as payment method. Using "view" bots on like twitch and youtube is a whole other story. No money is involved there, its about artificial bump the traffic to mess with the algorithms. Such can get channel accounts closed though, and is being beaten down heavy on by twitch and youtube.

Also remember, patreons come and go. Some can pledge for a couple months and then stop. Meanwhile new ones will come and pledge as well, before they stop and wander off to something else. You can't look at patreons as a constant factor. At current time GD is bleeding pledges, but that is related to his lack of have something to show for more than anything.

Also remember; Patreon doesn't advertise or market a creator. How well creators does it on the patreon platform come down to how good they are at draw attention to their game (or whatever else the creator is making/doing). I see people say "this and that" creator does deserve more than other creators, because they are better and so forth. But if a creator suck at market themselves and get attention to what they are doing, it doesn't matter how good they are. If you start look around on the internet for GD's game, you will find it on a lot of sites. Someone that might come across that game today, even though no update happen in like forever, wouldn't really know or care much. They relate to the experience they get with the game now, and then might get drawn to pledge because they want to see the next episode or whatever.

If you check this @ It give a stat of the adult game creators on patreon and how much they make. Quite a few doesn't have their income visible, but anyways.

If you take Dark Cookie, he is ranked as number 1 with 17k+ Patreons, pulling almost 49k a month. Adeptus Steve ranked 8 with 4k+ patreons and pulling 44k+. You can wonder if those pledge to Adeptus getting the short end of the stick, if you compare "cash per patreon". Or maybe Adeptus is better at sell himself than Dark Cookie? Seeing Team Nimbus pulling almost 19k+ a month for Cloud Meadow, and knowing the whole history around that saga. (and how crap the game actually is), you can question if all his pledges is brain damaged, or maybe they just doesn't know the backstory to well.

There is a LOT of creators on that list that deserve more than others on it in terms of quality of their work. But what you deserve and what you get is two different things.
