I agree completely. Progress updates should be at least monthly when a project is delayed. Bluecat could have, and should have, easily done quick posts on Patreon and/or discord so people have a better idea of what's going on. Especially after the sick dev came back when there's going to be actual progress to report. I get doing them less often when there's no news, but I don't thing Bluecat made the right decision by doing so. I'm just sick of half my notifications for this thread being people whining about how late the game is, many lying about how late updates are by saying it's been over a year. These are people who want something to bitch about and decided a porn game they download free from a pirate site was the easiest target.I just don't understand why he decides to go radio silent for so long. I genuinely feel like he only makes patreon posts now to avoid ES getting the "abandoned" tag.
It would take him maybe 5 minutes in a week to write us a small progress update, like "Hey, so far I estimate we're xx% done with the merge, and xx% done with the things surrounding it, in the meantime I've been working on animations/renders for day xx/xx and the script for those days has already been completed. Hope u guys stick with us for a little while longer, and thanks for all the support on the game/merge so far"
I guarantee if he did a weekly post with something among those lines, he wouldn't be BLEEDING patreons like he his now. The number is only continuously going down, down and further down.
Have you paid attention to any entertainment medium ever? Games, movies, and books are delayed by months or years all the damn time. When games aren't delayed they're often forced to release too early by production companies and come out a buggy mess. 6 months for a small indie project where a key member GOT SICK DURING A GODDAMN PANDEMIC is nothing. But if being told to wait a week before you continue complaining causes you to stop playing, then good riddance. If you don't like the delay or you don't think the game will continue you're free to walk away at any time. The patreon posts and information from the discord get shared here plenty. The only reason it's hard to find is because people like you flood the thread.FYI, half a year overdue is a long time. To put it into perspective, if you're given a project by your manager in any form of job, and fail to complete it 6 months after the deadline, you'd have been fired and jobless for the past 6 months. We all know it's 'laying the foundations'. So it isn't a 'buggy mess'. We've seen the same lines since last year. People have the right to be annoyed when something they've paid for becomes whatever this is, a waste of time? It feels like it
But I'm sure a patreon post behind a paywall that repeats itself like in the 5 previous posts will change everything
Anyways, most the people who used to feel the same don't even follow this game anymore. People like you might just push even more away, so congrats. You're doing a great job
