At this point I don't even know if I am interested in playing the new content. I don't really remember much of the story and was waiting for the merge to play this again and refresh my memory. It feels like the new content is being rushed in order to avoid more losses in revenue. After all this time we aren't getting the merge that was promised and the new content will probably not justify the almost 2 years of no updates.

Man fucks everything with a pulse.

No. Not because of revenue loss. Bluecat didn't lose money overnight, it has been steadily dropping since the end of 2020. Just check graphtreon. If he was that worried over revenue loss we would have seen new content last year. As many people here have claimed, it seems that when the abandoned tag was mentioned Bluecat started working on putting out content.

It won't. Skummy already confirmed it will be a normal update, so days 21-22.

Not sure why 3 of us are seeing 3 different numbers. Chucked it in a proxy and apparently patreon displays different % depending on where it thinks you are, lol. Must be a site bug I guess but that's pretty weird either way.
Because a few days ago the Patreon number dropped by over 60 and since then a few people have resubbed.

Since the merge ain't happening and it has been forever since I have played this game, should I play the fanmade merge or go through all the trouble of downloading the official releases and their respective dark mind patches to freshen up on the story? Basically would the fanmade merge save be compatible IF the new update drops?

We really have no idea what's really going on so its really up to you, either wait and see or download what you want to try again.

I will not get reinvested in this game until at least 6 months worth of updates come out.

To answer, I really don't know what if anything is left to do and what will take him time to do it on, though I do know he's down to one monitor and his older computer so he might just be sluggish on whatever's left, because of to-him inefficient set up to what he usually works on. I dunno, just a guess that he's just being awkward or something. Like I said, I'll let you guys know soon about when exactly he's planning to get this thing out.
Because he didn't make enough money, not putting out any new content for two years while his patreon kept on ticking, to buy another monitor and computer? Purleaze.

Fan made merge is literally just copy-pasting all the current weeks together plus some minor fixes so saves should be just as compatible either way which knowing this game means the saves won't be even remotely compatible even going from the official version. Plus there's already very few choices that have any actual effect anyway.

Wait, why in the hell are people claiming I'm making excuses? Bluecat has a higher end PC and normally two monitors, I'm just saying one monitor is busted atm and he doesn't currently have access to his main PC for whatever reason. You guys are being a bit odd and trying to connect dots that aren't there. Sometimes shit breaks, that's how life works.

Edit: Post was made before reading Skummy's post above. Seems I misinterpreted.

In one sentence you've made it extremely difficult for me to doubt that BC is perpetuating a scam. I mean, I never believed that he had been diligently working all this time... but with all the money he's brought in, if he hasn't been maintaining his workstation he must really not give a damn.

Regardless of any current "PC issues" so long as he access to the files, since his supposedly already done the hard work you can put it into renpy with potato pc so there should be zero reason an update doesn't come out this month. Unless his lying, of course.

It isn't BlueCat's fault his computer and all backup files were sent to the Phantom zone. ;)

I need to just quit talking, you guys get very amped up about anything I say, I'll be back when there's update news I guess.
I don't want to insult nor offense you. First of all it's nice to see how loyal you're as a friend and that you defend him. I can honor that.

But honestly: Everything new seems very suspisious. First we reach the 1.5 year without update and abandoned mark this or next month. "Suddenly" there will be an update this month. Then to lower the expectations because it seemed like a 1.5 year update/content, the content will only be that of an normal update. Sorry, but in my opinion this seems just like an "save my ass" move to avoid the abandoned tag, which will newer members keep away from this thread/game.

How is it possible to justify 1.5 years without a single update. I have zero experience with coding/programming, art renpy and all that stuff... but 1.5 years is a really long time. Give the failure of the merge, health probs, technical probs whatever.
Sorry, but it seems very coincidental how everything happened over last 1.5 years.
For me it just means that Bluecat followed the route like other Devs (Gumdropstyle) did. (Ok now I have Gangnamstyle as a catchy tune).

How can you still believe him, after all that happened in the last 1.5 years. Yes I know, that he's your friend... but it's a fact that nothing happened/updated for 1.5 years. I'm just asking because I'm curious

I can't fault the suspicion, but I think concluding the promised update is due to the impending abandoned tag is confusing correlation with causation. Aside from a bit of speculative discussion in early Feb, AFAICT the 18 month cut-off wasn't widely discussed until after Skummy announced the plans for an April release. The decision to go with MTL is a more reasonable explanation for the "suddenness" of the promised update IMO.

Everyone seems to have forgotten that MTL was a massive step in getting things moving, now that things have gotten moving.
