Not sure what's wrong, but with the newest version ( 1.29.3 ) from the rep I get this error all the time:

Sounds like something is messed up with the anchor or translation, when you encounter an error like that it should generate a text file in the game folder that logs the error, normally it is simply called 'emuera'. You can try to check this log to identify the problem.
If the problem is something you aren't sure of you can go into the git and under the issues tab you can select 'New Issue' (Its a blue button on the right side of the screen) type out the circumstances that cause the error as best you understand it and copy and paste the information of the error from the error log. This information should help the translators find and address the error.

I downloaded the dev instead of the master and now it works, still seems to have the same content, so it's fine
Yeah, dev branch is the most recent. Master branch is meant to be the more stable one but the quick turn around on patches on the dev branch can sometimes make it more stable despite it being the branch actively worked on.
How does swear loyalty even work? Read on the abduct but can't managed to trigger the swear loyalty button
Swear loyalty is a command that is available during sex scenes. It requires characters to be willing to follow your orders to do it so it tends to be done when pursuing the submission and slave paths on a character. If you can successfully get a character to swear loyalty you will brand them marking them as your slave, if you do this you will have a large bonus to getting the character to follow your commands during sex scenes (although if they accept the brand there a very few commands that they wouldn't have followed without it anyway.)
If a character is in your prison when you get them to swear loyalty you will get the option to release them from prison now as part of your faction. If you get someone to swear loyalty while they are still part of an enemy nation then you can use them for espionage from the diplomacy menu. If a character who is a ruler has sworn loyalty you get a bonus to there acceptance for diplomatic demands and some demands like asking to be allowed sex with them or there subordinates seem to go through automatically.
That's the main things I can think of about the mechanic off the top of my head, if you have any more specific questions then just ask.
Did I miss any more ERA games that are playable without understanding japanese? EratohoTW kinda is, but other than that i have not found anything
Well techincally whats the trigger? seems like it have no difference then making them submit. is it like a receiving action?
In depends strongly on what you mean exactly by playable, one that is totally playable would be eraSumireTeru which is fully translated, but some others like eraGvT or eraTentaclepalace are fairly playable in terms of UI translation and a decent number of events but there are still a fair few untranslated. If you just need the UI translated with minimal event translation then the K variants like eraFGO-k or eraAl-k would both fit the bill.
So presuming you want mostly complete translations I would recomend sumireteru or GvT but given those two are very different from tohok being a trainer and a turn based rpg with base management respectively it depends largely on if the different gameplay styles are to your taste.
Its an action that you initiate from the 'other' menu, I have already mentioned that it is most easily acquired during the submission/slave path. This is because when it comes to character acceptance you need to get there acceptance above a threshold of 90 and the characters mouth must be unobstructed. When you pass this threshold you brand the character after they swear an oath to serve you.
It does overlap thematically with the submission/slave path for obvious reasons, but it can technically be achieved without it if you can get there acceptance high enough without achieving submission as submission is tied to dependence and submission while getting them to swear and oath only requires a high action acceptance. The utility of getting characters to swear alegiance is something I already mentioned in my previous post.

Sorry I thought you were on about force submission and referring to it by a different name given that when you use the force submission it refers to making the character 'swear allegiance'. Disregard what I said before as I misinterpreted what you were asking for.
Yeah I can't recall a swear loyalty button popping up for me at any point so while I try to look into it i'm not sure what would trigger it.
No worries it appears majorly in the f95 version though the latest version in git shows that it exist still.
Thanks, SumireTeru definitely fits the bill, but GvT has so many menus untranslated, that I don't know what I'm doing.
Huh, my copy of GvT has most of the basic menu's and UI translated admittedly this was sourced from one of the people who was translating it over on /hgg/ directly from the board so it might be that the further translated version was never pushed to the git, I'll look into it.
EDIT: Double checked, grab the eng-translation branch off the git and you get GvT with most of the menus and such translated i'm not sure if it is fully up to date as some work was done in thread and not uploaded as I said but it should mostly be there and should certainly be playable.
Also good to know SumireTeru is fit your requirements its a well put together era-game even if the subject matter may not appeal to everyone.

Yeah, figured it out and wanted to come here to edit my post, but you already saw it: In this game it's better to take the eng-translation, while in most others the master is the newest one -_-
Though playing a bit there are still parts (like a character being imprisoned) that are completely in japanese

Actually for most era games (not all) the development branch will be one that is furthest ahead. This is because the standard workflow being that a translation is submitted to the translation branch, it is then reviewed and if approved and working correctly it is then merged into development branch where it is combined with all the english translation only mods and features, it is then tested to make sure it doesn't break anything there. When there is a significant enough amount of new content available (and hopefully it has been tested for stability) then the development branch is merged with the master branch which is meant to be for the main releases.
Of course each translation project is managed by its own translators so not all of them follow this workflow but it is meant to be how it works, so at any given time the most up to date feature complete version is meant to be the development branch, but that does come at the cost of lower stability and quality control.
Yeah, the GvT is playable but a lot of its events are still untranslated which can be a pain, never anything that stops you playing the game but it can be frustrating when blocking the porn content. It hooks fairly well in the translation aggregator if I recall correctly so if you are okay with using that it can give you a rough idea what is going on in those scenes. Or as an alternative if you use the prebuilt teams based on the Lyrical Nanoha franchise they have inbuilt images that play during those scenes that can give you an idea what's going on in them (albeit the images are constructed from keyboard characters so they arent particularly appealing.)
Anyone knows where is the inventory saved at for EratohoTW? Would really want to edit the item number for some stuff.
Also any ideas whats the basic stats to give them skills?
Say like 1000+ Submission and 1000+Dependence will net a character to have "Submit" in EraTohoK
