Safe how? The Mega link (and probably the other ones as well) link to some old but working version of the game. If you register with gitgud/sapphire/whatever, you can get slightly newer versions. I don't know where the "safe" part comes in.

Okay I clearly don't know how to play this game.
When I clicked [New Game] this is what came up;

You're using some ye olde decrepit version of a game that's not really [Completed] like the OP says. Get a new one and extract it to its own folder without overwriting anything.
Okay, but which one should I get?
I'm 6 download links that have a variation of Eratoho.

The game here in question is eratohoK, is it not? You're looking at the Stable release for that.

If you have an unzipping program like 7zip, put the downloaded zip where you want to extract (i.e: make a folder called "era games" and put the zip there). Right click the zipped folder, move the cursor to 7-Zip sub-menu and you'll see 3 "Extract" menu items. Click the one that says "Extract to eratohoK/" (or something similar).
Basically extract it into a new folder.
It said "File extraction failed. The archive may be corrupted, not readable, or in an incompatible format"

You probably do want to use 7zip. The internal extractor that Windows (dunno about other OSes) uses will not extract the files properly. Filenames get corrupted and that can lead to those problems up there.

The second most completely translated project seems to be the "TW" or "The World" project. It's the time stopping one.
Most of the gameplay-critical stuff does appear to be translated, as in the description, but you pretty often run into flavor text or even mechanical text that's still in Japanese. Either I'm playing it completely incorrectly, or it's just real grindy--even for a Japanese text-based simulator.

After a while once you start getting girls, you pretty much get dragged by them to go fuck.
