Well, I can understand if the game was famous and had a huge following and a big unforgettable plot then sure he could make a public release version and release the full version later as this is what most devs do to games, but there are not enough people who pay for this game, I don't think this was a threat they just don't feel like supporting the game, and this is a pirated site so most people here will come and see if there is any dev's who are worth supporting and this community would help them grow, then they would popularize the game.

I guess the point I disagree with you is this: "I don't think this was a threat they just don't feel like supporting the game".

They were not supporting the game to begin with, that's why it's an empty threat. Throwing a mini-tantrum because the dev had the "gall" of trying to find a way to monetize their own game, and get people to actually support them is just ridiculous, and the kind of people would say something like that would never support the game to begin with. And let's be clear: playing the pirated version from this site isn't "supporting the game", and that's all that person and others are saying they will not longer do.

If they were willing to support this game, they would have no issues with the game having features just for patrons because that's the whole point. Again, I don't think that this particular featured offered is worth it, but I have zero issues with the developer wanting to offer more to their paying patrons even if those features never become available here. If a feature is so interesting to someone they can't miss out... well, pay for it. Working on these games is a ton of work, and costs money. Nothing wrong with the devs trying to recoup some of those costs back.

Epic Patreons: They get the Gold version of the game 3 days later. -4th

Master Patreons: They get the normal version of the game 2 days later. -6th

Patreons Bots: They get the normal version of the game 2 days later. -8th

The public normal version is released 5 days later. -13th

And the public gold version of the game will be released when the next game update is uploaded for legend patreons.

Lol... this is basically a competition between the world's weakest attempt of monetization, and the world's emptiest threat.

On the blue corner: "here's a new version of the game you can only get by paying (oh wait, nevermind that)". It adds features to speed up the game, despite the game thus far having exactly ONE choice that matters in any way, all other choices can be boiled down to "do you want to watch this scene or not". A walkthrough for a mostly linear game isn't a feature worth paying for; I do believe you should be paid for your work, but that tutorial should just be standard as it's mostly symbolic.

And on the red corner: "oh, you're trying to actually get paid for your work? I'm out". And then what... you'll stop leaching bandwidth, or just write a strongly worded review on the pirate site? You can't threat someone that you'll stop pirating their game, my dude, that's a favor, not a threat.

Where do you think the majority of supporters come from?

I only download games from here and if I think they are good and worth supporting I will support them. Leaving a bad review isn't an empty threat, reviews affect how many clicks a game gets, if I see a game with 2* I'm not going to even look at it. The game is not in any way paywalled. Adding a feature that is only available initially to paid customers is not, nor does it in any way resemble paywalling the game, and it's either foolish or downright insane to claim otherwise.

I'll repeat what I already said above: if you're gonna throw a hissy fit because the dev is trying to find ways to get more people to support them in the only way that really matters (with cold hard cash), and no matter how much you guys want to cry wolf this isn't and never was any big deal at all, then you were never gonna support the game anyway and you're just using this as an excuse to make a scene and make it about you.

I think devs might need to take some marketing classes, because the old withholding content until the desperate, broke-ass porn addicts give all their money is not as good as they may think.

Make good content consistently and the supporters will come. "If you build it, they will come".

No, the new version has removed much of the old content, and it looks short not making it worth the download, you do not need to remove the old content, the game didn't need to add gallery features or walkthrough mode but the normal content should not be removed, he can give the gold version to all the subscribers and release the game 1 or 2 weeks later, that's only if the game has popularity because most people will find it not worth it to support the game when most download the final version in steam or final version in patreon, this is where most devs earn their profit through making a fanbase which will show that the fans matter and this is how people usually make the subscribers to the dev will spend the money to make the game, if he starts this early to make a paywall when there is not enough fans is not a smart decision, I mean look at the top devs game usually have a loyal fan base and pay a lot because they earned their trust and it took some time to make it big.
