wouldn't draw conclusions, but if the trend continues, they're going downhill

The November to December dip is heavily impacted by beta release so it's not representative.
November 1st -16 640 Nov 7th- 18 100
January 1st - 16 836 Jan 7th- 18 440
That is basically no change, which can be read as bad thing because you would expect steam release have some lasting effect rather then just 1 month spike. But then given the backlash you would expect a huge drop but there is none.

a) paying customers tend to be more invested (duh).
b) PH's PR person argues that with gacha "people hop regularly". Demo has no gacha while Beta has.
Thus Beta (according to PH) should show better performance than Demo. But it doesn't just use simple KPI of % of p of those playing an hour ago to the peak number. Demo had 15% of its peak playing an hour ago. Beta just 6% of its peak.

All of these prove how much of a bullshit PH's arguments in defense of online-gacha-shit are.

Did it occur to you that BETA runs like shit, is full of bugs making number of players unable to play and the gacha mechanics are not a factor now because PROGRESS WILL BE RESET?

The problem is not gacha rather them using crowdfunding to develop gacha and pissing on what people want. But then again patron count doesn't seem to be dropping as it should so my guess supporters don't give that much crap about the new direction as long as they get to fap.

They want to control how you enjoy the product with your hard-earned money.
This isn't you modding the assets or patching in random BS. This is them putting artificial time limits, gates, and other bullshit to justify selling more DLC.

Never heard of a porn game with hard time/content locks, but here we are in 2022.

sadly thats not accurate. those simple gacha games generate much more money by exploitative and predatory monetisation.

and thats why so many developers choose or are forced by their puplishers to somehow incorporate forms of microtransactions into the games these days.

its the sad state of gaming in general. and as long as people are willing to throw hundrets or even thousands of dolloars towards ingame items/characters/skins, this trend my not go down.

I didn't expected it is such a cancer by now it was predictable tough also in all the meetings i was involved with all these psycho guys at the table talking about it under false flag "how to improve your customers experiences" though i doubt the Numbers in the Console space are comparable or as high at the moment as Mobile and PC.

I think the best example is FIFA ultimate team - the gacha mode in FIFA makes them twice the amount of money compared to box sales. Keep in mind that only small % players spend money in that mode like 1% or something.

It was never in the game at all. We never even had a single screenshot or video of her. Just the concept art and some 3D modeled costumes. Many people think she was never made in the first place, since they knew Steam would never accept her. I could easily believe that at this point. Smoke and mirrors.
