A strong disturbance in the land of self awareness has awoken me from my slumber, after a has come across my feed. -
Well, now the Galatea situation has been exposed to the world... I guess me and the homies most definitely won't be dogging her ever, at least in this timeline :(

But they say "there's no such thing as bad publicity", so watch those numbers bump up again.

You are right, they might get some numbers after this.
And if this game succeeds, other developers might try making more porn-gacha games, filled with season passes for characters and "exclusive" sex positions.
Man I hope people pirate the hell out of this game.

I think a distinction needs to be made between publicity that highlights controversy ("Our product is making feminists butthurt" or "Our product is making right-wingers butthurt") which can lead to more sales, thought with the caveat that it is entirely dependant on the specific market and prevalence of whatever group you're courting - and publicity which highlights a negative aspect (the game is buggy, the game is pay-2-win, the game is in development hell etc.).

The article is firmly in the "game is a dumpster fire, avoid at all costs" category, so I don't imagine it's going to do Helius any favors, and if the true nature of Galatea becomes even more mainstream Steam might start feeling pressure to delist the game, which frankly would be hilarious.

You understimated some perverts. After this article Helius instantly gained about 150 new patreon supporters within 1 day.

So let me get this straight. People are paying thousands of dollars for a 3d porn viewer with ok graphics?
To give the man some credit, the graphics were pretty good around when this project started. The downside to delaying yourself so long to add monetization is that what was ground breaking mid-late 2010's really starts to become par for the course as we approach mid 2020's.

Same thing for the live service, battle passes and loot boxes really. Maybe an alright idea if he had the ability to launch with them around when he came up with the idea, but too late to the party now.

wouldn't call these "ok graphics" considering the alternatives, but yes
Is the singleplayer system even implemented yet?
nope, not a single thing from singleplayer is implemented (considering you're referring to gameplay, there is the singleplayer gallery I guess)
The entire thing they still advertise the game as (rogue-lite tactical yada yada thing) is out of the window completely

Singleplayer/campaign/Xcom with deckbuilding was cancelled, or as they say, "put on infinite hiatus" even though one of their progress reports was that the campaign maps were done.

So let's say this - so called " Phase 2 " - launches February 28th/ March 1st. Does that mean update for official Steam version as well, and beginning of all that online crap from now on ? or we're still only talking here about Patreon locked stuff that has to be cracked ?
