celia is included in the 4 battlepass included into the 36$+ tiers people bought, initially the plan was to let patreon's the time till EA too purchase the discount benifits by purchasing the 36$+ tiers, but due too i taking longer then expected helius merched the last 2 stages and let's the discount run out before the 2/3 beta, after that helius that still pledge between beta EA will get other bonus rewards (i don't know what this entails) there also has been a mention that battle passes are acquirable without paying but i'm not entirely sure if this is still possible or on the board

That I understand, but what I'm criticizing here is that change. Remember, to many of the ex-patrons and maybe some current patrons the way this is constantly shifting towards more monetization looks incredibly scummy considering it's the patrons that carried you through the delay.

To put it bluntly, your patrons carry you through a delay for this online feature a good many don't really care about or want for 2 years now essentially, and the thanks they get is a slap in the face FOMO on the update. Cough it all up now or miss Celia for free. If you're wondering where the team got the reputation as money greedy scammers, it's the years of this sort of behavior where Helius forces a decision not wanted by the backers and punishes them when the issues they warn about come to be, like the difficulty of swapping to an online system.

haha, also i wouldn't call it brave i believe everyone is capable of a normal adult conversation i do believe that both this community and our community is interested in a good porn game one way or another, someone asked me too come in and have a talk and so i think its worth a shot, i'm always open to hearing 2 sides of a story.

1) it is visible by others but most of the time dev's share their stuff when they feel like as it's not mandatory to do so
but helius shares stuff when he feels like it.

2) yes, we use a 3rd party chat outside of discord where we share content and information with devs and artists.

3) meetings not necessarily, but we do share information and feedback towards certain content or posted works with the devs
but there is also 1v1 talk not all artist are in contact with each other or speak english.

That would be in contrast with what Helius said once - "I didn't hear from rebuild team for months". Now, there may be a reason for that - maybe the rebuild was outsourced and you don't want to disclose that. But it was a very worrisome comment and maybe you can shred some light on it.

Don't forget that they have to reinvest a lot, probably most, of that money back into the project to continue development. This is how any development project goes. I'm not sure why your acting like they shouldn't make enough money to survive while also getting more money to continue work on a game that is not yet complete. This isn't new or alien. It's how virtually every game is made.

Oh yea silly me I forgot to mention how they're investing a lot of the project revenue into things that everyone is against: gatcha, F2P, multiplayer.

Being a patron doesn't give you control over the project, it is expected that dev will listen to the feedback but i think too often people think that the dev _need_ to listen to them. Nor i think anyone has right to say "dev you need to be happy with what you make and you can't look for new avenues of monetization".

The problem lies in communication. To this point still there is no info on patreon on what the game is really gonna be, what is the monetization plan. It is in giving people the impression they are listening to them but doing otherwise. If they make unpopular changes they should argument them rather then dodging questions.
Unfortunately what Helius is doing does make sense because if you ask yourself what works better "To reason with peoiple or to mislead them?" then i strongly believe misleading brings better results.

Not claiming Celia is going, but people on the fence or who pledged an intro amount to see posts will now be forced to go for 35$ instead of being allowed to wait and see up to early access if they want Celia's pass free, otherwise the wait and see costs them that 35 + 15 for Celia. Sketchy, given the last update didn't do so well and this is essentially trying to get people to pay ahead of it before the state is revealed.

So this one change itself is rather small, though it's the next step in a long line of additional costs, promises on what you get for your money being revoked, etc.

Remember, they needed to make an entire table as to what your pledge gets you based on what's been revoked over time, and even that's coming to be out of date and missing a few things. Helius' reputation comes from all of these individual changes that while small at once and the staff can hand wave away as no big deal certainly add up over time. Hiding behind "Oh, well it's just a small thing" doesn't really work for the better part of a decade and a dozen changes. And this is without getting into the additional freemium monetization.

Come to think of it, I can't actually think of a time when Helius has given his patrons something extra. It's always "You're no longer getting this, this now costs more."

not trying to dodge the question just not entirely sure what you mean, the only thing that changed is window where you can still buy the 36$ tier, if you didn't opt in you only need to pay 15$ or with ingame currencies (not sure if this still implies)

To be fair name a game where its fans are like "fuck yes! it has gatcha!" Thought so. It is done because its a very lucrative concept and if done well it can be very profitable while not being a glaring problem for the players. The multiplayer aspect is something they have their own vision on and while they could communicate it better some of the reasons are understandable. Do you think games are made by adhering to every single person's want? No, games are ultimately a function of what the creator wants to produce, not the fans. The fans can opt to not support it in a fan backed project like this but as we can see they're still readily supporting it and it obviously isn't a huge complaint even if its not exactly popular. The online component isn't really a problem anyways and is blown up by a bunch of self-conscious people with disorders who can't accept invisible mode because of unhealthy paranoia. I have no idea what your piece about F2P is.

Those are some fair points. I don't necessarily agree with the bit about misleading or reason with, as I get the impression Helius actually has legitimate social nuances that lead to Helius' poor communication that need to be worked on more than intentional exploitation but the rest is fair, especially the first paragraph.
