Crush is a guy.

Took a look at the game file, and out of 100 new passages, 49 of them have placeholder text. And that's with a month to polish the first half, and Crush staying up all night before the release date.

Not to mention it's bugged to hell and back - at one point I somehow got stuck in a loop that kept sending me back from uni to high school. Maybe he's still on a learning curve as a dev, but it doesn't bode well for his timeline to implementing a complicated open world if he's struggling this much with a linear narrative with no meaningful stats.

But to be fair to him, at least he's made a pretty nice looking dice simulator.

I see this place is as cheery and encouraging as ever! "Scammer cunt dev"...nice, babado, thanks.

I took a quick look through and basically almost everything said about the game in this thread is wrong. If anybody wants actual info about the game I'm Crushstation#8544 on Discord, I don't check in here very often for some strange reason

Sugarcube does that ("incorporating" the whole js code), if you tell it to. You can also set it to link an external js file or library. However, as I am also experiencing in my own project, sometimes there are issues since the loading is async. It can happen that SC already displays a page, but without having fully loaded the code it references, which ends up in errors.

With this specific situation, my "professional advice" would be to load the code externally, with the importScripts function. It would probably result in a less bloated html file. I have recently setup mine to also minify the resulting js code and it seems to be working well.

You could create it yourself, it's not very hard if you have older patreon version.

Just some Copy/Paste and one variable to change and voila.
I had, but I have no idea on where and how to change those variables. I'm a very basic pc user, most times I'm pretty clueless around this stuff.

Let's put aside the annoying things for a moment because all the sponsorship for the old version has gone away.
I've been playing a few recent updates, but why do I have to watch the boring African UN story for so long?

Because the devs like that scene and it supposedly helps humanize Kate and provide context to her future job (or something along those lines, been a while since I checked discord).

But i feel like we can't develop our character how we wish to do it.
What character choices do people want? Especially based on Crush's comment about 'simplifying the mechanics'.

The only thing I will add, is the more options you have, the more you have to write for. Less options equal quicker scene building, but everyone has their preferred character type. I like strong characters that are corrupted, and huge tits put me off the game in seconds. Being a pervert is strange.........

"Simplifying the mechanics. All the mechanics are there for a reason...but there's no point in having them if we don't have time to make use of them. It's time to trim some fat, so we can get story content out quicker."

I kind of disagree with that and it's a mistake many game devs do (porn or otherwise). "Illusion of choice" is a very strong tool that most good RPGs use. From giving the exact same reply no matter what dialog option you choose, to simply not taking into account a minor detail you used during character creation.

Easy example to see what I mean: Chest size

Option 1 is giving 5 (or more) different chest sizes and shapes, and then having to write every single variation for every time "your tits" appears on screen (be it dynamically or hand crafted text). So yes, you would have to write "he grabs your humongous milkers/small tits/moderate chest" and so on and so forth...

Option 2 is giving the exact same options, and then just not mentioning it but leaving the player to fill in those details. This is something that is already done, involuntarily. When you pick your hair color, you don't (usually) get it mentioned all the time. When the scene says "He grabs your hair with one hand and your tits with the other" you, the player, fill in the details with the character you created.

Really they can do both. Just because you can reference a choice, doesn't mean the dev has to. They can go with default text/paths, and when it seems appropriate, add in text/paths to respond to specific character traits or player choices.
This is one of the things about Crush's plan that I just fundamentally don't get. He's removed a bunch of character customization stuff that, if I understand the long-term plan, will eventually go back in.

If you want to focus on getting the core story/game loop out, and not, for example, spending time with alternate versions of text for each country of origin, then just..... don't write alternate text until later. Just ignore the customization options until you're ready to use them.
