Gave it a run. The merging of JoJo and Silent Hill is an interesting choice. That classroom segment could be a great place to put passwords or cheats.
Yeah well, originally it was just going to be a JoJo parody. Don't ask me how I ended up with Silent Hill XD. I did think about what kind of gameplay I could put into the game without breaking the flow of the game. I'll be honest. I'm impatient myself. There are lots of visual novels that I have played where I simply skipped many parts till I see something interesting. That's something I wish to avoid in my game. I mean, you totally can skip ahead but you're going to spoil some of the dramatic reveals.
I'm sure there are ways I can hide a password, such as blending it with the light or the environment. But at the end of the day, most people won't bother with that, myself included. I'd just download a walkthrough mod, or open up the script and see the answer directly.
I started off making games in Unity and Unreal Engine, although ultimately I didn't finish one, but my philosophy of game development is that, you either make a gameplay element really fun to play, or you don't make it at all. And within the limits of my skills and Renpy, there's not much fun gameplay mechanics you could add to the game except branching choices. You could add QTEs, card games, RNG, password, turn-based combat and whatnot, but you can't make them as good as in AAA games. The question here is, if I wanted to play these gameplay mechanics, why would I play it here with such limitations? You could play Resident Evil or Tomb Raider if you wanted QTEs. You could play Hearthstone if you want to play card game. You could play Hearthstone again if you want RNG, or go to a casino
. Password, might as well write it in the game title, like Code: Veronica XD. Turn-based combat, there are 13 Final Fantasy games to choose from and I don't think I can surpass any of them. I think most people are here for porn, and the flow of the story is really important as a porn experience.
