Ren'Py - Completed - Foot of the Mountains 2 [v5.0 Finale] [SerialNumberComics]

This is a perfect example of good renders, neat character buildup, but absolutely horrible game design. As someone who went in blind with zero walkthrough or cheats you are left dumbfounded on what to do next. And beyond that its one of those games that forces you to see the same scene 20 times to grind stats.

Its just all so tiresome.

The grindiest grindy grindhouse I’ve ever played. You follow the walkthrough word for word and certain scenes and events still don’t trigger at the right time. All the repetitiveness literally made my head hurt.

My fingers jammed from all the repetitive clicking it’s a disaster. This is one of these games where I would understand if people just downloaded it, fapped and deleted it.

The story itself is okay, I didn’t play the Dev first game so I didn’t know what to expect but apparently this grinding is their theme. Back to the story, you live with this Milf who happens to be your aunt and while you’re trying to perv on her she’s busy thinking you’re gay, at least we thought. Turns out she just has the hots for you, also she comes off as this dominating figure or presence one minute but looks like a helpless, loveless damsel the next.

There are others like your cousins one is a bipolar slut in Ann, who can’t make up her mind if she wants to be treated like a slut or a main squeeze. Than there’s Rhonda the insecure fat girl, who later becomes slimmer to appease others I guess. It’s a mess. Also the main attraction gets forcefully raped by a black guy, which caused a shitstorm lol and I get why it was so random. No one saw it coming but afterwards she appears to enjoy, which was weird. Idk. They said it’s part of the story but I’m not sticking around to find out. My fingers hurt... like a lot.

Oh, the main character is bad and the dialogue is unclear and cringe sometimes.

This game is like the poster child for "needs an in-game guide/hint system." There is some great art and fantastic scenes... and frankly most people will never experience them because it's so unclear how to unlock them.

To put this in perspective - at one point I genuinely thought I had unlocked everything in the game. I downloaded a gallery mod and lo and behold I've unlocked less than 1/3 of the content. WHAT!?

ART - 8/10, really good stuff. Lighting and texturing can be a little bland but the posing and scene ideas are solid. And they did a good job differentiating the characters - gives them life and personality.

STORY - .... No rating. I don't care. I've made this joke before, but frankly the story is not what I'm here for. The characters are interesting enough to keep me engaged.

PACING - 2/10. Many people have made the comment already that the game feels grindy and slow paced, but I feel like that all stems from the lack of clarity around unlocking new scenes. I'm never sure if I need to level up some stats first, or if I haven't selected the right options, or if I need to play the same scene more than once. It's just unclear. In all honesty the game might feel fast paced if I just knew what the hell to do. If I need a walkthrough for that then you've failed as a developer to communicate objectives to the player.


CONCLUSION - This game would easily have a 4 star rating or higher if the developer can get their priorities in order. If they spent a full patch cycle (or two) working on quality of life improvements I could give this game a glowing review. But as of right now most players will only experience a fraction of the content before getting frustrated and quitting. Adding more content isn't going to fix that. So in the game's current state and direction, 2/5

Its to difficult. I will remember this game the rest of my life. Som many hours grinding.. Impossible to finish the game. The story don't make sense. It's just frantic clicking repeating the same scenes over and over and over and over and over.... Once you finally get to a scene it's to short and your left disappointed. There are a few good scenes so I give 2 stars, not 1 star.

Cheating does not help very much.

Scrappys gallery mod is a life saver! The only way to view all scenes.

Excellent graphic/renders. Good story but a bit too much grinding to get to see Daniel fuck the gorgeous Melinda. She is definitely among the top 5 Milfs ever created for a game. Sexy clothing are included which makes her even more beautiful and out of this world. You get the feeling that the other woman in the game are just bystanders for this goddess. I guess that says it all, without Melinda this game would be just another mediocre game out there . The Devs have realized that and therefor making all the efforts to sustain her beauty and sexiness throughout the game while we and Daniel are drooling all over her LOL.

Foot of the Mountains is one of the best "Daily Routine" Visual Novels ever created.

+ Visuals / Graphics are very modern and realistic
+ Character behavior is interesting and surprising.
+ Story is intriguing and mysterious.
+ Very slow buildup
+ Sex sharing is possible/happening

- Extreme Grindy (BUT there is a cheat mod)

This game could have been so good, the art and story line are really good in my opinion. But the biggest problem I have with this game is the insane amount of conditions you have to meet to unlock new scenes. Not only with selecting the right dialogue but with doing certain scenes certain amount of times at certain days at certain times, where some scenes are available only weekly. This makes the game really grindy and frustrating because you can only get 20% of the content playing normally, So you spend most of the time skipping past scenes and hoping to stumble onto something new.

If there is something this game desperately needs, it is a proper quest log for each character. It is maddening to play the same scenes over and over, for weeks on end, trying every possible option to locate that one trigger you need in order to progress.

The fact that the game seems to have progression bugs that can lock progress for some characters if you trigger other things too soon (like the sister's appearance, for example), making the game unable to be completed doesn't help. And the progression bars for characters that decrease every time you unlock new content isn't helpful either. I was questioning whether or not those meters were telling me that I had undone progress I had made. It's always unclear what you need to do next to proceed.

One final peeve of mine is the fact that most scenes in the game can be repeated endlessly, but then there are a handful of scenes that appear once and never happen again. This is a problem when you are trying to follow what passes for a walkthrough, and you don't know that a certain scene will never come up again, and you waste time trying to get it to trigger.

The story is ok, if a bit weird. The renders are great and there are good sex scenes, but it's tiring to play because the execution is just terrible. I don't necessarily mind repeating scenes I've watched before, but the lack of feedback and guidance is what's killing it for me.

If this were structured more like Summertime Saga or The Twist, it would be one of the best games on the site.

Great game regarding renders and story, really fun to play when you find a way to achieve goals, because also there are a lot of excelent scenes.
The main problem y found is that this games is too much grindy style, so to advance in the main plot can get you bored, in some cases can take hours doing the same thing trying to achieve anything, and on the other hand, there no huide regarding what to do to advance on it. I like this game a lot, but of course, there is a big room for improvement.

TL;DR: A *lot* of wasted potential. Good character design, terrible game design. 2.5/5


Preliminary note: I played [v11] of the game without walkthrough. I don't like games that need walkthroughs to be fun. I didn't finish [v11].


I give this game 3/5 instead of 2, because I hope the developer(s) will tap into the wasted potential and redesign the game.


PRO
- The characters (that I've met so far) are very well designed. No comically enlarged genitals all around. Good sex scenes. There is even one of the MC's main love interests that is not painfully skinny, but a bit overweight. Not obese or anything, just a few kilos too much, like a normal person.
- The parts of the background story that I've seen so far are satisfactorily mysterious. I would like to know more.


CONTRA
- The game design: Grinding. Mindless repetition. Inconsistencies.

Every character arc has certain flags that need to be activated in a certain order and often by having to repeat the same events/choices over and over again, usually with the same responses, just like the event one day earlier didn't happen.
At the same time the characters have sub-arcs that are inconsistent with each other. At one point I could have intercourse with a certain character on two different locations at different times, but if I even dared to ask her for the same thing or even a blowjob on another location in a different timeslot she became morally outraged and talked about platonic love.

At the end of another scene another character hints "I need to take MC to another character after the (recurring) event at 10am". Unfortunately for this to actually happen a certain flag had to be triggered which I obviously hadn't. She told me that for 3 weeks until I eventually coincidentally triggered the right event.


I don't mind grinding as long as it's somewhat comprehensible and moves things noticeable along. Being able to ask the same questions for the same answers, and doing the same events with the same outcome every day is the opposite of that.
I played the game for maybe 6-8 hours altogether, before I came to a point where for two weeks (in-game) nothing happened. Obviously I did the wrong things at the wrong times and wrong locations. Rather frustrating.
At that point I kinda gave up and looked for a walkthrough. What I found was not a nice guide for each character, but an endless list of times and events to do in the right order. Not fun at all. Scrolling down to see at what point I was stuck, I found a lot of characters that I hadn't even met yet and a lot of things that I hadn't done. I was maybe halfway through.

I decided not to waste any more time on this inconsistent and joyless grinding and haven't finished [v11].

Initially I wanted to give the game 1/5 stars, because I was frustrated. Such a good character design utterly destroyed by the worst gameplay I've ever seen so far, it was unbelievable.
I decided to sleep on it and now I give it 2.5/5 stars, because I hope the developer(s) will see it as an incentive to redesign the whole thing and make the gameplay equally great as the characters.

This game shows tons of promise initially.

Unfortunately by the time you realize that you have to repeat the same set of sequences for the millionth time, to make the slightest progress you will lose interest in it & you will delete it.

Shame because this could have been a great game, the models are beautiful, the few scenes you unlock are good .
But that's nowhere near enough to save this unending disaster.

I started playing the game, looked forward to some real nice renders. Got bored of the repetition, looked up the walkthrough. So groundhog day was no mistake? Read the reviews then... fuck it, I'm outta here.

So, I normally like my corruption served with a sprinkle of grind, and this follows my favorite. So with hot renders, I should love it, right?

Unfortunately, while the content is hot, the game itself is just plain broken right now. I can only imagine that the people who actually like it are the ones that have played it one episode at a time. Starting from scratch. as of v11, it's an unplayable mess. There's a reason the devs of Summertime Saga have gone back and redone parts of the game several time even though it displeases current Patrons who want more content, and it's sorely needed here as well.

The grind (which approaches ridiculous levels) isn't even the worst part. And don't get me wrong, it's bad. The progression is determined by an insane tangle of stat checks and linked scene flags that make no logical sense. Brute force ALL the things! But on top of that, the REAL problem is that the game is almost 100% likely to end prematurely by leading you onto a path that breaks the game. It does this by presenting you with options that you're really not meant to do yet. At best you lose out on lots of content but more likely, you hit a dead end and can't progress because some condition can no longer be fulfilled because you started that other thing the game kept rubbing in your face. As an example, there's a whole section where you can't visit the kitchen at a certain time of day because it can start the endgame prematurely... Yeah.. It's that bad.


PROS:
- Hot scenes

CONS:
- You CAN'T play this for the first time without the walkthrough. Seriously. It's not a matter of not finding everything. It's the fact you are 100% guaranteed to get progress locked by the game's inconsistencies.
- scene flags and stat checks are an interwoven mess and I'm 100% sure not even the author is able to keep track of it anymore given the broken state of things.
- False hints. There's a a bunch of "THIS IS ALL YOU GET IN THIS VERSION" messages that signal there's nothing more to see along certain paths, when in fact there is?! They're leftovers from previous versions that the author never bothered to remove.
- False choices and daily stat decay.. Rhonda's inhibition didn't want to stay down. Great, more opportunities to grind!
- needing to repeat events literally 10-15 times before things progress to something actually new instead of just tiny dialogue variations
- a large amount of the aforementioned events only happen at a specific time and day, for example 1000 on Saturday. finding them is a brute force crap shoot.
- No form of in-game quest system or proper scene list. There's a tiny hint section to be fair, but it's woefully incomplete and basically useless.
- Hell, even with the text walkthrough is hard to figure out why or where you're blocked because it's basically an exact recipe you need to follow from day 1. Where the hell do you pick up? Unless you enjoy following a script step by step, don't count on the walkthrough bailing you out of the rote repetition.



TLDR:

Starting from scratch, the game as of v11 is almost completely unplayable. If I wanted to follow a recipe (the walkthrough), I'd bake a cake. You need to be METICULOUS to follow that thing.

It doesn't help that the cheat mod doesn't work properly with the latest version either but at best, the mod would only save you from the stat grind. You'd still need to tick all the scene flags.

Awesomeeeeeeeee and a really wonderful game with a very nice and great story line and also have a very good and a lot of sexual content to be played. Beautiful Women and sex. This is a Must Play Game

Sexy girls but a bit of a grind . The aunt is sooo damn sexy and a lot of work but damn it she's fun. The continuity is a mess but that almost makes every new scene a bit of a surprise. Replaying is the definition of Hell. Seriously though, the scenes are super hot.

A really strange game, have great models, but poor history and grindy af.

Story - Well....the history is realy strange and poor, what is to be the focus of the mc mostly don't care. Is realy not that great, it look like is the last stuff that the dev is putting effort in doing, and the worst, at some point, you will need a walkthrough because you will be lost and don't have idea what to do.
Renders - The best of the game has to offer, the renders are great and well done, we have a great milf, chubby, girl next door, gilf, and all the female models are great so far.
Sound - Except the menu, we don't have any music, the only stuff is some sound effect like gunshots.
Amount of content - Well....here come one of the worst, the game is so much grind, that 80% of time you are grinding to try do somenting, is bad, the game itself if you don't need to waste too much time grinding for money, relations, remove inhibitions, is realy short, what keep the game so long is you need to do a lot of shit, again, and again.

The conclusion is the game is poor...we have a poor history, great models, and too much work to do anything and the worst of all, is that you need a walkthrough to do, because at some point, you will be lost, and boy oh boy, there is no way to you know what to do next. Other than that, the game sould be called Sloppy seconds simulator, because there is no options to you prevent anything, and one of the girls Ann, is always fucking other guy, and at some point, when you have the options to tell her "yey, is just sex" se goes crying like they are in some kind of relationship, but the retard Mc, just keep getting sloppy secons from her. Melissa is a marry woman, so yeah, you are trying steal her, but you too keep seing he fucking william, and always you don't have an options to prevent anything. If that is considered Ntr, by the rules of ntr is not, because you don't have any relationship (boyfriend/marry/etc) with them, but is annoying when you are trying to fap, and see the woman that you are trying to fuck , fucking another guys.

If you wanna see great models, play a poor history, grind a lot to try do anything (except if you use cheat) Go play sloppy seconds in the moountains (what a realy bad pun)

Even with a walk-through and cheats this game is only one long grind. There might be a story if you actually manage to progress in all the grinding, but in its current state (v11) it's makes for a truly uninspiring game to play.

Jesus. Fucking. Christ. I've played a lot of porn games - seen a lot of games with grinding, but this game? It is one of the worst, if not the worst grinding that I've seen.

I've played approximately 4 or 5 hours, while using walkthrough and still haven't seen even 1 vaginal or anal sexual scene between MC and Melinda. After several hours of grinding she only jerks off. Ann "broke" first, but her first time was so badly implemented that it almost looked like developer just decided to give us at least some action. Ronda was also very slow to "open up".

I don't have anything against slow character development, it's usually a good thing, but ffs, the amount and quality of content does not even close justify the amount of time I've wasted on this game. And yes, I also said quality. Because I'm patient. I would've endure it if sexual scenes were good.

But the problem is - they are not. Most sexual scenes are just looped animations with "..." instead of any text. There is almost no description of sexual encounter, no characters' thoughts and almost zero talking during sex scenes. And that is the real dealbreaker.

P.S. There are several times during game, when the game asks you, the player, if you want to watch following scene because it contains questionable material, for example "milking scene" of Marilyn and that's perfectly fine by me. But. The game DOES NOT give you same warning and option to skip before the scene where Ann pisses on MC's face. What. The. Fuck. So, the developer decided that a scene where MC squezes Melinda's breast and milk comes out can be offensive for some people, but a scene where one of the girls pisses on MC's face is perfectly fine for anyone?!

The game have a lot of grinding, but like extremely grinding so if you don't have patience the game is bad.
With the last update (v11) the developer just kill the game for the majority of the ones that keep playing. He destroy all the personality that him gave to the MC and FMC so the past updates loss all the sense.
