Not an expert but code dive says that is a function for custom animals so that you can define if it is 'A' or 'An'

Potential solutions if you can load the save before it crashes from trying to look at the slave would probably be to open the console and type V.active and see if .canine .feline or .hooved contains a malformed object.

Simplest solution is to just set the entire object to null ex " V.active.canine = null " but if you purchased the animal you are out the money.

I don't have animals in my current saves but someone else might be able to share a fixed version of the animal if the issue isn't that the whole system is broken and experimental.

The original dev had life happen, I don't know if life is still happening or if they saw that others had made an active fan community around the pregmod modball and decided not to try and split the fandom.

So what's currently a good method to make money? I'm playing rural and try to be somewhat nice. So far I've got a brothel and bought a bunch of menial slaves. 40 weeks in and it's still the same bull market with slightly less demand.

You make money by whoring out women with high value.
which means their devotion and obedience should be maxed and they should conform to the future cultures you promote.
Occasionally you can also sell such a girl. (buy girl cheap, fully train her and she sells for 100x)

I just assume the first batch of women are for the entire city.

The harem comes later and even then, I can't divorce my wives so I just send them to make me money when I need to make room in the Master Suite.

I disagree with your analysis. Think about it. At the start of the game the city has "4.250 citizens and 901 slaves". Statistically speaking, let's say that's about 2150 citizens and 460 slaves who are women. Citizens are out, that leaves you with 460 women. Population-wise depending on location they may skew older or younger, but let's say 66% of them are below 45 (the default slave retirement age), that leaves you with about 300, and a third of those is under 18, so you're left with 200.

Those 200 women are all the sex slaves available to 4.250 citizens (remember, women citizens are a thing, they can have slaves too). That leaves you 1 in 20 citizens owning their own sex slaves. Not all of those sex slaves will be skilled or beautiful, and you can squeeze that group even more with FS. It doesn't surprise me that you offering services of super hot pornstars is in high demand.

All you have to look at is ancient Rome. Slavery was legal, yet prostitution was very common, and capable slaves were highly sought after.

You quoted me saying there should not be much MONEY in prostitution. (particularly, not to the point where it pays vastly more than owning the most precious realestate in the world)
I did not say that there should not be ANY prostitution.

Your prostitute slaves are literally competing with hundreds other prostitute slaves. And even if they were literally the only prostitutes in town, they should still not be giving you that much money. (compare that to the cost of buying shares in an arcology, or buying advanced tech)

The game is very much wearing the dev's fetishes on their sleeves:
The only way to make money is to whore out your harem
The only practical way to train a girl is to whore her out so she gains "skills"
Taking a young virgin and turning her into a used up whore increases her resale value 10x

Those are extremely specific fetish distortions to reality. And ones which are mandatory for anyone who plays this game. There is no option to opt out of those fetishes.

Edit: i just read ur full post and just realized we're actually on the same side, yeah i absolutely fucking hate having to whore / share my slaves to anyone, but if money is the problem then i just make that problem go away lol, it's a singlepayer game that i'll never even have any socially acceptable reason to show off my "achievements" to anyone anyway so there's no harm to just indulge myself

This is just not true, even on the hardest difficulties. Milking is a bigger moneymaker than whoring (weirdly, because it's even LESS realistic), and it's certainly possible to do just fine financially with neither whores nor cows. Early game, you will be pinched for money (basically relying on rent), but slave training is a great money maker long-term, and your weekly costs can be kept pretty low if you're using the right number of servants. Get a recruiter going, pick up some cheap slaves (shelter slaves are always very cheap, for example, though you have to be careful not to break their rules too often), and advance FSes that will bring you volunteers and increase the value of your slaves (ideally, your first FS should be one that rewards you for increasing the value of your slaves...Paternalism or Asset Expansionism are good choices for this strategy). You can make around 500k profit on each slave you train if you're doing it right, and that starts a virtuous cycle where you can invest in your neighboring arcologies and collect rent from them too. The Corporation can be a nice passive moneymaker as well, though it requires some capital to start up, and if you're using SecExp, weapons manufacturing is also a good source of money every turn that you can focus on right at the start of the game.

Oh, and don't forget about porn. Pick slaves with good faces, and producing porn from them will more than pay for them. Don't know if that triggers you the same way whoring does, but if it doesn't, it's a huge moneymaker and basically makes your slave count not matter at all, since every slave is cash-positive no matter what their job is.

rent pays way too little. even if I fully own both my arcology and my neighbors. it is still a tiny amount compared to other sources. and not enough to pay for various expenses
