To be honest, playing other devs' games kind of convinced me how not to handle some of the dark content in FiN. There's a reason that the devs that do double (and triple and quadruple and quint..) down on the dark content just become interminable misery porn slogs. That's a large part of why I want to avoid it.

I think there's also a reason those type of games tend to get abandoned. After a while, where do you go with it? All that's left is greater acts of degeneracy. That's not a story, it's just boner fuel.

None of this is new, by the way. I've been saying this since literally the beginning, but the darkest routes just aren't very interesting to write.

"Aieee!"

"Aouwww!"

"Eeeeee!"

There's not a lot of meat on that bone, and it basically goes to the same place for everyone. Do I try to add some variation (within the bounds of sense and logic)? Yes. See: Pepper. But 90% of the time, that route ends with the character in abject fear of MC, and doing everything they can to avoid him.

Conversely -- the corruption routes? Ton of fun to write.

Nicki - free-use fuck-buddy who waffles between enjoying it and getting pissed at MC, based on his treatment.

Gabby - reluctant sugar-baby who could come around on the benefits of the arrangement, provided MC makes it worth her while.

Ashe - furious plaything that's nonetheless has MC propping up her career in the face of a hostile boss.

On and on. All of these give the love interests more agency, and are therefore just way more fun to write. There's a level of back-and-forth that is just at odds with the absolute domination inherent to the dark path. And there's still plenty of opportunities for forceful interactions.

Plus, to reiterate: There is a practical side to this. I think some people may really be discounting the amount of effort it takes for me to do 3-4 routes for everyone, over the course of the game. It's rough, dudes! The newest update would probably be done by now, if I wasn't dicking around with doing multiple routes for Ashe.

I should honestly just shut up about future game developments, because I doubt anyone actually playing the game over the next few updates would even realize certain girls had begun to disappear.
It might make it easier if, after a point, the nice guy and corruption routes also trail off with certain girls. Like a girl that would succumb to coercion and blackmail out of fear still not digging corruption if she believes she has a choice (or is smart enough to find an alternative way out of her bad situation) or a girl that just can't be won over by a nice guy because she is only into bad boys. It might cause some consternation but it would cut down on your workload as well as reward specific playstyles. Having only two possible routes for a girl in the late game might streamline the story some.

He's also not fucking around with heads of state, just broke bitches
I could be wrong but I don't think there are many serial rapists who frequent the same well repeatedly. At the Epstein level girls are sadly disappeared or paid off to keep quiet, Guy doesn't have hush money levels of money, but he is a public figure he's exactly at the level that would get justifiably crucified by something like the me too movement.

I was also thinking about that. For instance, I am playing only as a nice guy to all the girls. I don't expect to get into Ashe's pants because she seems to be looking for a little dom/sub games. She won't get that from me. I'm happy to help her out financially, and with her job problems, but I can see her drifting away because I don't give her what she wants sexually. I imagine that similar arguements could be made about most of the other girls.
To be honest, in my playthrough, I only have eyes for Nicki, haven't made any sexual moves on anyone else. I'm waiting for the chapter 1 redo, so that I'm not forced to accept some sexual favour from her. I want her to like me because I'm me, not because of my money. (Yeah, I KNOW I'm weird)

Yeah the only problem with this is exactly what you said, it will leave some people feeling dismayed, because a lot of people (me included) have already spent a lot of time with our favorite characters on whatever route we have chosen. (Nice guy in my case) If suddenly the LI I already invested all that time into, while being a nice guy, suddenly didn't wanna be with me because I'm too nice, that would feel shitty.

If this was done much earlier it coulda worked, but I feel like it's too little too late to implement this without causing an uproar.

Yeah the "rape until they love it" trope that a lot of those corruption games seem to use is quite boring and usually is also not a good maker of stories.

Now I'm curious NeonGhosts How rich is Guy now? Can he go broke helping people?
Unless my mind is playing tricks i think there is some passing mention about Guy having invested in several different things, which would suggest he is more rich than his wardrobe indicates and unlikely to go poor from helping his friends in need. :p

Hey mate I was wondering I know there are going to be consequences if the mc is too evil.
will there also be problems down the road if he is too nice?
Pepper was kind of my experiment in a character that wouldn't respond well to MC's attempt to insert himself into her life, and she'll continue to be a little stand-offish for a while.

But, stay tuned for more on this. MC might learn that with one of the girls, indulging her every whim only serves to spoil her, not make her better.

We saw him begin with something like 26 million. It's far from infinite money, but for someone who's mostly cutting checks for 10, 20, 30 thousand? Eh. Even assuming he wasn't earning interest, he had no stocks, no money-making investments, etc. he could drop 50,000 per month, for the next forty years, before he ran out of money. He's gonna be juuuuuust fine.

In all likelihood, that'll be more like endgame content, and vary from girl to girl. Like, Corrupt Pepper could decide it's worth it to hang around, and keep her allowance from MC while she pursues writing. As long as he's not a dick, getting dicked down by a millionaire is probably better than waiting tables. Nicki's likely in it for the long haul. Ashe will probably break away as soon as her position is secure enough she doesn't need MC. MC and Gabby's sugarbaby relationship can be assumed to end whenever she leaves for college, which will likely be at the very end of the game.

Honestly, I wouldn't want to block any of the main love interests from nice guy/corruption routes, but some of the secondary girls will vary a bit. I think I've already mentioned this, but I have a little Bonnie scene planned for the event that the player is solely on Ashe's friendship path. And Tessa, Jamie's friend who helped him 'shark' Gabby and Brittani, will likely require some special attention.

This dialogue is in the game:
mc"Look, I've got money coming in, okay? I'll admit, I wasn't entirely sure how to handle all this at first. But, I've got a financial advisor. A lawyer. My money's safe."
mc"My money's earning money. Some of it's in stocks, but a lot of it's in uh, I guess you'd call it 'brick and mortar' investments."
"Nicki frowns, looking befuddled."
ni"What does that mean, though?"
mc"It means.. I own about a dozen properties here in town. And a few out of state. They make money, and so -- I make money."
mc"So, don't sweat it. No more goes out than comes in. We're fine."
Another line in the game says he started from 28 millions.
MC might learn that with one of the girls, indulging her every whim only serves to spoil her, not make her better.
My money is on Cassie :D

My bet is on Gabby for this scenario. Of course, it could also be someone who hasn't been introduced yet or has had very little screen time like Riza.

Why Gabby? Because compared to the rest of the main girls, she's a teenager who hasn't really dealt with tough situations so she is a bit naive in thinking that things will work out if she wants them to. I'm thinking of the scene in the bookstore, if she's your sugarbaby, where Guy is trying to explain how things would go if they were to reveal their relationship.

The rest of the girls are implied to have had a rough childhood so they had to grow up faster but Gabby is a bit sheltered and doesn't have that much life experience.

I could be totally wrong and Gabby's arc could go in a different direction but it's fun to speculate.

To be honest I expected to be given grief for leaving $100 as a tip

Well it is understandable, i bet some person she trust most turns out to be her abuser, since domestic violence is usually the main source of abuse in those cases. Makes sense Pepper wouldn't trust some random guy just because he gives better tips and try to pass off a friendly behaviour (this time i am not referring to his name :p) .

My first instinct would be to bet on Gabby turning spoiled if Guy gives everything she wants but thinking back i am not so sure anymore that her or anyone else on the main cast would fit the profile.
