I was wondering why there was a sudden burst of comments then I saw it was updated. Surprisingly I didn't see as much complaining as I normally do.

*Disclaimer: I love Nicki & she's probably my favorite LI*

I think you're forgetting the main sticking point for people. The amount she asked for and how little it is compared to Guy's total wealth is irrelevant. It's not that she asked Guy for money, it's how she asked him. In hindsight, her intentions were good and she made an error in judgement. However, Guy isn't a mind reader and her motives seem suspect.

From Nicki's perspective, she feels terrible asking a friend for a huge (to her) loan, but genuinely needs to. The whole evening she's considering and reconsidering how to do it while also spending time with a friend she's sorely missed. Before she knows it the night is over so she grits her teeth and rips the band-aid off.
From Guy's perspective, he suddenly came into money and tried to hide it to prevent people begging for handouts. Then, almost as he feared, a seemingly close friend tracked him down and showed up asking for money. If she had been upfront about it, it would seem more genuine. By spending the whole evening and asking before hitting the door makes it seem manipulative. Like she was guilting him into helping her.

Later:
Again from Nicki's perspective, things go to hell so she tries to not take advantage of her friend again by trying to fix things on her own. Too late discovering she couldn't contact Guy if she wanted to. Things get worse and without options, realizing who's within reach and despite feeling like she took advantage of him last time, she turns to the only person she thinks will help her.
From Guy's perspective, his fears have been justified. She showed up out of nowhere, pumped him for cash, then cut off all communication. Now here she is months later back on his doorstep with another sob story. It seems like she only contacts Guy when she needs something.

I admit, I didn't want anything to do with Nicki after this either... at first. However this does make her character more tragic and sympathetic as her story unfolds. By trying not to take advantage of Guy, it appears as if she's taking advantage of him. After the initial anger cools off, it makes me care for her even more.
I was happy to see Nicki the first time, and happier to see her the second time (but sad about the circumstances). Maybe it's just how I am, but I don't assume that people don't like me because I don't see them. I assume that they're getting on with their lives and are just busy. I don't need them to check in. I probably would have given Nicky some shit and reminded her that her boyfriend sucked but there never would have been a question about helping her either time.

Not trying to be an ass, but I've been waiting for the next update for a bit, and considering to cliffhanger that we were left at, I got to say I'm disappointed with this mini-sode. I appreciate the work that must have gone into it, but it's doesn't seem part of the current story. (I'm sure it's relevant with the douchbag photography, but still) maybe next time.
Here's a little teaser for Chapter 11.

Another detail though.

I don't think that it was simply that Guy assumed Nicki didn't like him because he hadn't seen her. From his perspective, she actively avoided him. Months went by with no word from her. In the story Guy tried to call her, but the line was disconnected. He tried texting and email, but never got a response. I'm pretty sure it mentions that he checked her social media pages (as that was how they reconnected in the first place) only to discover they had been taken down.

There was good reason for all this of course, but again, Guy isn't all knowing.

I'm not saying that your opinion is wrong or mine is right, just giving reasons for my opinion. Yours is interesting too, I was just looking at it from a different lens.

Yeah, we just come from different places and that's fine. I mean, there are lots of places where I wish Guy could have handled things differently but Neon can't anticipate the feelings and reactions of every single person around the world who plays the game. All of that stuff would have made me worried about Nicky, I might have even had a private eye make sure she was ok - not interfere or anything, just check - but I wouldn't have felt hurt about it, only worried. There have been plenty of people I've been separated from, with no word, for years at a time only to reconnect and discover that nothing had changed between us.

Now I'm interested to see how those 2 are going to bicker in that room. As for what happens after they leave the police station, that's a mystery and it's one that will be revealed in the upcoming update (as well as Cassie's role as the story continues, and if she'll be curious about her older brother's love life).

This is a helpful reply, thanks! I think I'll just stick to two different playthroughs and use a gallery unlocker if I feel like it
No problem! Also, I forgot to say: you can also switch between routes with certain decisions; for example, you can start on a LI's corruption route, but then decide you quite like her and want to try out a romance; and if you've been nice to her, she might feel the same way. Or, you can start on a romance route, then break up if you decide you don't really like her after all; or start on friend route, then transition to romance if you want a slower-paced relationship development; etc. etc.

The game isn't finished of course, and I haven't looked into it myself, so I'm not sure how limited it is or isn't. I hope that doesn't make it sound even more overwhelming, it really isn't! It just gives you more choice to tailor your playthrough the way you want to. So keep in mind that you're not glued to your routes necessarily and every choice can have an impactful effect.

Yeah, you'd be completely broke in a day. That's exactly how professional athletes end up broke, they end up paying for everyone in their family and can't sustain it when the money stops coming in. Rich people don't get rich by blowing money on other people.
True. But, I guess it depends on what you value. If the value of being rich is so that you can stay rich or get even richer, sure, there's a tried-and-true method to that end. If the value of being rich is helping others and getting shit done, then losing money is kind of the point. I suppose it's the difference between someone who donates just for the tax credits and publicity, versus someone who actually ends up losing money in a real way and are ok with it, because they understand what the spirit of a donation is supposed to be.

Here's a little teaser for Chapter 11.

She blew my mind behind a record machine
She was a shitload of trouble called the Subway Queen
Had a hip with bad habits and a shake that was a bit obscene

One night I caught her running out the cellar door
There was about a million people lying flat on the floor
For such a sweet little lady, I would swear she's rotten to the core
Oh yes

She got her hands in the cookie jar
Smiling like an alligator
Makin' headlines in the back of the car
Tight-lipped now but sink ships later

Well, I know a thing or two about a
Sweet little sister
Her mom would kill her if she knew what she do, she's my
Sweet little sister
She'll love you black and blue
Sweet little sister
She's Mona Lisa with a new tattoo
She's my sweet little
Sweet little sister
:devilish::love:
