Steam approval is no longer necessary. You pay a fee, you're in.

It's the people's approval I was worried about. This is my very first game, it could be a huge success or an epic fail. Choosing the right moment and the right words to ship it is no small feat, believe me.

Something that catches my attention about this game is the novelty of the project, since is a big mix of genres. As an indie and serious developer, you could have aimed to the erotic/porn market using Patreon as main font of incomes as, for example, Darkcookie with his "Summertime Saga", that is another indie and serious dev, and the game a pretty big success right now. Or you could have aimed to the part of medical simulator and management, kind of like "Hospital Tycoon", and try to get incomes mostly from Steam.

To introduce a good amount of mature content in the kind of games that usually doesn't have and to aim to both markets is something pretty new (and a bit risky, I suppose) and I sincerely hope you get a succes.

Anyway, this forum is, IMO, a good platform of marketing, at least for the mature part of the game. Most of the games of the section "Most Popular" are making a decent amount of money every month even being (I suppose), the most pirated ones. As well as other games that are not in that section yet as "Good Girl Gone Bad" or "Acting Lessons". And all of them started with a guy at home and a computer.

Just some thoughts. I´m not an expert of marketing or something.

@Amedore Indeed. And sometimes I must admit I don't understand why developers much more likely to abandon their project (like someone did with so many excuses for), or release an update once in three months (having patrons pay monthly though), or even copying other games have four times my patrons/money.

I mean: someone gets about 35000$/month and their game is still in development? We're not talking Mass Effect here
Just my two cents really.

Let me be clear about this: it's not jealousy, it's just I don't understand... I accepted that making a niche game (because mine IS a niche game) I would've gathered less attention, but not so much less... Still I cannot complain since the awesome player community I got is something I really love and care for!

I introduced "vanilla mode" and "exam mode" for those who don't like VNs or adult content, so everyone would have something to like in the game. This is only the first project of many, and I want (and need) it to succeed to keep developing games

Development Log #2: Telling a story​

General Practitioner is many things, but it's mainly a Visual Novel. The primary element of each Visual Novel has to be its story (or its stories!), there's no doubt about that. And telling a story requires imagination but also a sound likelihood to reality.

Of course sooner or later in the story you'll have to deal with Elisa's pregnancy. You can of course skip all her content if you deem so, but if you try and follow her path you'll have to deal with the various phases of her pregnancy (namely "Trimesters").

Pregnancy is a special and challenging part of a woman's life, it's pure joy mixed with sorrow and sometimes even anger. Hormones get crazy and it's not always easy to deal with the strong emotional tsunami they bring.

Elisa's pregnancy in General Practitioner merely scratched the surface of that until now: with the next update to the game you will face some situations I (and most guys) faced when my wife was pregnant. There will be humour, because pregnancy is joy, happiness, expectation and there will be tears because pregnancy is doubt, fear, lack of self-confidence.

I hope you'll enjoy Elisa's story as I enjoyed writing it and I'm looking forward from hearing your thoughts about this!

Yes it is a known bug and the game will be removed or has already been removed in the next update.
Just skip it for now.

That was fixed in 0.0.17. Stories tend to get very different with the main quest, and each girl has her own agenda and character, at least that's what I hope to accomplish

Whelp... I was following the story with my favourite character in the game, refusing any other relation offers, then suddenly her story ends. Yea at the first moment, when i saw the message pop up on my screen, i was like "Oh cmon... not now! really?!" So I check your patreon page if I could get a new version for a bit of money, since Im already following 3 guys with their work that offer new versions for 5$ tops, even for less but with a short delay but, honestly, I was kinda shocked when I saw your price, eh... Simply cant afford that much. Maybe the price is fairly common for ppl in other countries (USA?) but Thats a lot of money for me considering it'd be each month. I can pay that amount of money for lunch at my work for 15 days and still have a spare coins for couple of coffees lol.
Its just a shame for me, nothing more, you have right to ask whatever you want for it of course.
anyway, game is good, a bit repetetive as I said, sometimes a bit unlogical like when I fell from like 30 fame to -40 in a week because that damn technician was unable to fix the damn website but never got more then few plus points from him ever... also a bit buggy but I can live with these buggs as long as they dont cause the game to CTD.
but its fun, Ive actually found myself thinking about certain cases what could they possible have for a health problem.

You can get a new version for 5$ with almost a full month ahead of public release (free release's going to end soon since I'm going to sell the game on Steam's Early Access, Gamejolt etc.). Pledging more in the future will also give you a free Steam Key too (that's still to be determined though).

Are you sure it's 0.17 version? It says "0.16 Alpha release, Our clinic, my legacy" in the main menu... Also, there are the same bugs of 0.16 version with Kiko's father, and after a few scenes with the pregnant character, the game stops working and returns to the main menu...

Just a word about bugs

If they are not reported it's VERY difficult for me to acknowledge them. And even if they're fixed (and tested by myself of course) that doesn't mean they don't need more testing either.

The game is 30+ hours long in gameplay and contains about 400.000 words right now. It's impossibile for me to play it from start to end each month and I don't have a staff for testing out things for me (that's what alpha releases are for btw).

So please don't get too angry about bugs, they happen in AAA videogames, they happen in indies. The important thing imho is the support you get from the developer, and I believe mine's fast and available.

Yes, it's labeled v0.17, but it's v0.16.

I think it's actually v0.17 even if it says "v0.16 Alpha" in the main menu and there are in the game the warnings of "there isn't more contents for this character in this version, there will be more in v0.17 version". But I think is just Bruni forgot to change the label of the version and remove those warnings. The 3D model of the MC is the new one that was used first in v0.17, and I have seen new contents, as the character of Christina in the bar and two new scenes: the one with the sister/cousin and the one with the pregnant woman.

Problem is, this version of the game is so buggy that I can barely advance the gameplay. Bruni, I'm not angry about it, just saying a fact.

I'm planning to start a new gameplay with the route of the sister/cousin to see if those bugs are caused by old savegames. I'll report the bugs I find.
