Future plans
Glamour is approaching its one year anniversary, so it's a good time to look back to see what we've achieved and what mistakes we've made. We realize there are problems and we're working on fixing them.
Currently, the game has over 900 full-screen images and over 1500 sprites (single elements like characters and objects on the screen). The game also has over 380 dialogs. Full dialogs, not just a couple of lines from each involved character. Some people see it as a negative, other like our stories and our delivery format. By the way, this month we want to do several polls to know what you want to see in the future. Here are some examples. How much time we should spend on Alex? Should we make dialogs shorter and/or make less dialogs? Should we increase the number of events or their length? What's your favorite storyline, etc. We want to hear your feedback so we can move forward in the direction we both like.
Now, about mistakes. First, the game has very low amount of adult content for an adult game that has been in development for almost a year. Maybe we spent a bit too much time on the basics, RPG part of the game, and the story. We have big plans and the game doesn't develop as fast people would like. Thankfully, most of the basics are implemented, so this problem should be easy to fix.
Another problem is constant cliffhangers on many storylines. We're not doing it on purpose, but first, there's really no way to tell a long story without cliffhangers. You either tell the whole story in a month or there's a cliffhanger at the end. Also, many storylines are intertwined and we had to start (and leave hanging) a lot of them simultaneously. We'll try to focus on fewer stories at a time in future versions.
We had a big plan for 0.10, but we're going to change it a bit. Instead of working on ten different things, we're going to focus on fewer of them, but with more time for each one. They'll all have adult content, too.
Here's what we planned on 0.10 but decided to move further in the future:
- Maya tutoring Kate (you might have seen an image from her apartment in the earlier post). It's a great story, but there's no way to get to adult content in one month because it needs functional fitness club and more. It's going to have to wait. Since there's no way to get close to Maya, there's no way to influence her votes, so for now she's going to vote yes on everything.
- PE and getting into the cheerleading squad.
- Photo studio where Kate would be able to take professional pictures of classmates, Julia and other characters. Again, no way to do it all in a month while simultaneously working on nine other things, so we'll implement in some other time.
Now here's what we plan to implement in 0.10:
- Kate has a phone now, so she can do selfies and share them with others. For now it's going to be Sophie and Adam. In the future Kate will be able to send photos (decent or not) to all characters after getting their number.
- New events in the medical office (story-related and periodic).
- Committee will finally vote for new college rules, Kate will have to convince some teachers to vote the "right" way.
- Karen remembers what happened in 0.9 and getting her to vote won't be easy.
- Veronica is going to get most of our time this month. She's one of our favorite characters and we have great plans for her.
Every one of these will have interesting events and adult content.
By the way, offline version finally works. Currently we're working on automatic updates, so you should see it with the release of 0.10.
