From conversations with both men and women in several different states in the U.S. dating is mostly ignored nowadays. Yes, it can happen, but it's not as formal or as rigid as it's represented in several media. Sometimes it moves straight to the girlfriend/boyfriend status, as we do in Europe, other times there's a period of dating, that can be very short or very, very, very long when neither party wants to commit and just keep being little more than friends that may or may not have sex.
The media, makes it seem really formal, really old-fashioned, but, apparently, it isn't like that at all. A "Date" may be meeting for coffee, for a drink, for a trip to the mall, for a dinner, a movie, or simply Netflix and chill. It can be a hang (where they stay at home), or a out (where they go somewhere), it can be formal (like a dinner with all the trims), or just sitting in a bar for some drinks, maybe dancing, maybe just talking.
The main purpose seems to be that both parties try the cake, without having to buy it. It let's them meet each other and ghost them after if there's no interest.
Here in Europe we meet. Greet. if we like we keep meeting, if we don't buh-bye. After meeting a few times, well, it's time to talk. That's it. No formalities. Is it better? Is it worse? Bah, if it works and babies are made, fuck it, whatever.

Dude, this game is an Harem fantasy. It isn't representative of any place or any culture. It follows the rules MoonBox (the writer) decided. The MC will have 100's of girlfriends, all of them will know about the others, none of them will care, some may even be girlfriends of other girls. This is NOT how it works in real life... some will say it's a pity, others will say it's a blessing, either way it doesn't matter because it will NEVER happen, it's a porn fantasy. Ok?
