She is. I think she is trying to keep her like herself so she feels less alone than she already does. She needs someone who is relatable whether it is natural for Emily or not. It's pretty clear she is trying to better herself, but if she does she may lose her.
I really hope it doesn't come to a point where the MC has to make Emily realize all of that other crap Ashley is trying to convince her of doing isn't necessary. I mean Emily's caught in the middle of that battle and the MC is caught in the middle of Ashley and her grandfather, and by proxy when it comes to Ashley, Emily as well.

I know we will have to see where Az brings all of this but for right now, it certainly looks like things are going to get more complicated for the MC before it gets easier. I think confessing and telling Emily flat out he likes her and he doesn't want her to change is going to be very necessary, it's just a matter of how that's going to happen, if it does.

Obviously she already knows through his actions, but he certainly needs to tell her how he feels.

I was hoping that helping Ashley would have her back off trying to change Emily.

So I did an Emily LOVE route run for the last 90 or so minutes and I have to say that I find Ashley the game's antagonist when it comes to the MC and Emily.

Does anybody remember the movie "Platoon" with Charlie Sheen from 1986?

There's two Sergeants that are always at odds with one another; Barnes, the hard-ass prick played by Tom Berenger and Elias, the more mild-mannered balanced, sensible one, played by Willem Dafoe, and they're trying to influence Sheen's character, and the rest of the platoon, throughout the movie in one way or another.

I feel like that's what is going on with Emily here. Ashley (Barnes) is trying to keep Emily the way she wants her and likes her; hostile, angry, ready to beat up someone at the slightest push.

The MC, and maybe even Samantha, are Elias, trying to help guide Emily to not being so hostile and angry all the time.=, or influencing her to do what SHE wants and not what Ashley wants. In the movie, Sheen states it's like fighting over possession of his soul.

I was thinking about this as I was playing today and the "sphere of influence" battle made me think of Platoon. It might not fit for everyone's thinking, but it does for me.

At the end of E8, Ash is agreeing to show Emily about the makeup, whereas I'm sure the MC thinks that it's not necessary for Emily at all and thinks to himself that trouble is coming.

Ashley might be a main girl, but for right now, she is also the antagonist in my opinion on Emily's route. There's no conflict, no bad guy on her route. The only douche bad guy is Ashley's grandfather, but is Ash herself going to try to influence Emily more in the upcoming episodes in trying to get her to change and the MC has to show her it's not necessary?

Alright, enough hot air. I had to get my thoughts out.
Never thought I'd read a short essay comparing Platoon to a fucking porn game but here I am. You're right though, it's an insightful comparison.

1 update a year? isn't this considered a little like milking?
It would be if he hadn't paused Patreon billing and put out a side story. I understand if you don't think the side story is worth it. But, it's not nothing.

It is a really bad sign though. Hopefully he can pick up the pace without burning out again.

Here a new EP9 Teaser from Nov 9 (post title: "He looks scary!") and a fun pic with Em.
Why do I have a feeling Luis is going to get us in trouble?

Maybe the infraction point thing will start to actually mean something now. Good thing Luis is there, if someone approaches Emily that she doesn't like and wants to be aggressive with her, Luis will take the heat, not the MC. Unless Luis is away while it happens, and we have to make a choice; Defend Emily and take the point or else.

For all we know, Emily might do it herself with her "Emily kick"

I admit to having lost interest in this game.
However I always look forward to the special renders. Always very well done

I think the long of a wait we had to deal with took a lot of wind out of the sails of players here, and we're going to have to wait a bit longer too, at least into early '22.

It's a shame that it happened, but nothing we can do about it. I hope those same players that went AWOL during this wait come back. I myself am still looking forward to it, especially with all the renders and teasers we've been getting.

Remember the excitement for this game. Slow burn games absolutely HAVE to have a consistent no later than two month update schedule in order to be successful. The only reason I think games like LOML are still successful is because of the unique assets, art style, and phenomenal writing. A game like this has awesome UI, nice writing, nice graphics but models you see in a lot of these other games. So why get blueballed here or rewarded with..."yay she reluctantly let me beat off in front of her (She didnt even enjoy it)" when I can play a different game with at least decent writing, same models with way more lewd scenes, and one a month updates?

When I first found this game, I must've went through it three or four times in a row, trying to get the best Emily score possible ahead of Chapter 9, which I was hugely excited for. I had a 40/10 with Emily and felt like I was in a good position for whatever ending with her, not knowing of how long the game would take before reaching said ending.

Even though it's been on hold for about 10 months, I still did a couple of runs this month alone. I'm not big on the "slow burn" aspect (a certain college game with a certain rich girl comes to mind) but Emily just has me around her little finger. I've been pretty loyal to this game despite this purgatory period we're in, but the teasers still have me coming here, and I really want to see what the future holds for this game and our resident honey badger, Emily.

I followed it up until the scene with the not mother (who drew me to the game) seemed as though she was going to give you a "reward" for saving her from rape. The build up to that particular scene all the way down to the missing and the groping as well as the option to save her really got me excited. I waited for the reward and the cat and mouse which culminated into nonesensical teasing and beating off in front of her. Not even a mutual masturbation or just the tip or blow job. I proceeded to stash it away and lurk the thread and changelog until something happens. Normally with these slow burn games its about 2 to 3 updates later. Her we are, still no penetration with the MILF or any character who isnt a slut.

I'm not a big fan of Samantha or Ashley anyway, so it kept me from doing anything with them. Emily, then later Shiho, drew all my attention, but it doesn't matter what you do anyway with them, it doesn't affect, for now, anything with Emily. Emily and Shiho just get jealous and nearly catfighty with each other.

I was dedicated to Emily Day 1 in this game. The slutty characters in VNs hold no draw for me. I'd rather have the story than the sex, which is one of the reasons why I like this game so much; Emily's background with emotions mirrors the MC's, and they've connected that way, along with other ways. I'm just really curious to see where the story goes with the MC and Emily.

I agree especially the part about slutty characters. Slutty characters in a slow burn game turn me off because its comes off as a cheap attempt keep the viewer interested (Patreon milking, some even post misleading renders) or a "check-in the-box" on actually having some kind of penetration to avoid complaints. For me at this point it has to be one or the other. All out bangfest (Which I also like) or decent slow burn that HAS to be well written with a fulfilling payoff.
