Cornwall isn't meant to be liked as a person, he's an antagonist. He's done some good things, and he's done a lot more bad things. Gaining favor in politics isn't all sunshine.

Small spoilers... in v0.11, you'll discover Cornwall is up for reelection.
So this has been bouncing around my head the entire day.

Frankly, right now I don't see how MC can afford not to support Cornwall. Unless something significant changes before then, we don't see much of a possibility of complete abolition of elven slavery. The blood-androids rely on them remaining slaves (considering the "extraction" method is intrusive enough to officially kill two of the elves involved already), so that's possibility kind of goes out of the window. Regular androids are too expensive. People like Ashley's dad need somebody to abuse to feel better about themselves and their place in the world...

Cornwall is a known quantity, and whatever his motivations, he DID already drastically improve treatment of the elves, no matter how meager the concessions. He seems genuinely impressed with MC's achievements with Lin, so presumably until MC throws some abolitionist rethorics Cornwall's way, he's very much a potential ally for further improvements in that regard.

Hell, even considering the connection to Kali's dad, MC is, politically, a nobody to enforce his will on the society. And Kali's dad is heavily invested in the bloodroid. Though perhaps once the jack's out of the box (because I will be extremely shocked if there's nothing malicious if not outright evil going on with that project, though Dad probably is unaware of it considering how hands-off he seems on the whole thing) he's comfortable enough to discard the huge financial loss shutting it down would bring, especially if his interaction with the new wife, and her stated principles, are both genuine.

Still, that's a really far-out bet considering the very real possibility that Cornwall can get replaced with some "traditionalist" seeking to roll back what little protection Cornwall established for the elves.

Damnit, Runey, stop posting on the forum and get cracking! This story got me hooked too much to wait patiently! ;)

Seriously, the fact that you managed to get me thinking about such heavy topics like slavery and ebbs and flows of societal change through a porn game is, alone, a testament to your talent.

Gib moar story nao, plox. XD

It's kind of clear to me now why Runey blocked you, and I think at this point I've written all the responses to you I can be bothered with, as well.
Yeah, well I lost interest in you when you literally replied 'that's just like your opinion'. No shit it's my opinion, I'm hardly going to argue someone else's opinion now am I?
And Runey blocking me over this shit just shows he can't take any criticism. I've talked about this like two or three times over the past year, and all but the first was when someone else brought it up. Him trying to spin it like I've been harassing him about it all year is insulting to the intelligence of anyone who has followed the thread in that time. 90+% of my posting in this thread is not about this shit, but comments on other aspects of the game and bug reports.

I have to disagree with you on this one, he takes criticism all the time, and has even changed many things based on it. He has explained many times why this is a critical scene and can't be avoided without ruining the entire story, and yet you don't let it drop, any time someone mentions it, we have to go through this again. That is why he did that, and no other reason. IIRC, he had even toyed with the idea of an alternate path at first, but after beating the dead horse for so long he dropped the idea.

No one is saying that is the only thing you talk about, but the fact that we are having this discussion again just proves that point.

I was going to say it should be interesting to see how this election goes, until I remembered we haven't really learned much/at all about any potential competitors Cornwall may or may not be running up against (or it was mentioned and I forgot, been a while since I've gone through that part of the story). It's not hard to imagine that human puritans who think elves = garbage exist and would love nothing more than to revoke what little rights they have now so that they could return to their old abusive ways. Cornwall is probably a thorn on their side in that regard, despite how much wealth it brings them.

Money also seems play a big role in that world, of which Cornwall seems to have plenty. It wouldn't surprise me if he simply tries to buy his way to the top.

Wow! popped onto this thread to see if there was any news of an update, (not rushing any1, or complaining, just checking), and just wow!
Guys it's a game, a fap game at that.
Runey has the artistic license to do whatever the hell he/she wants to do with his/her creation, that is been given for free.
Am sometimes amazed by peeps, do you write to Stephen King complaining about chapter 9 of his latest book too?

With StS, they are in the middle of changing the code from the way it started with DC (an art director) trying to teach himself to code, to the new version now that he has hired a coder. At least according to them, until they have finished updating the old code (Mrs. Johnson), old saves won't be compatible. This is also partly why there are so many bugs if you try to do too many quests at once. Problem is, they let their supporters choose what plot gets added next, and they keep voting to add new things, and not fix the old ones.
The sounds like one of those Kickstarters where there are unplanned delays so they promise more features...which of course causes more delays, which results in promises of even more features. Somewhere along the line the person behind the kickstarter either realizes they have to get off this hamster wheel and get something out or the whole thing implodes and everyone is lucky if they get a demo.

The best way would to get the code fixed to where adding things doesn't result in old saves breaking and then start adding stuff.

A similar pit is the 'use the latest tech/engine/mechanic' mentality resulting in the program falling into 7734 development land. Duke Nukem Forever (which some were calling Duke Nukem Never) is the poster child of that and when it came out as Yahtzee pointed "you could practically cut it in half and see the entire fourteen years of shooter evolution it's tried to keep up with, like the rings in a tree stump."

On a side note the whole slave-love thing with the Elves for Sanctuary struct me as a little weird and nearly non sequitur. I also noticed that one of the elves seemed "disappointed" if you choose the love route. Perhaps she is nearly to the stage Jin is at. It also surprised me that Lin hadn't been...well used in her long lifespan. Also Sylvia seems to give two different and contradictory ages for herself. Maybe I am reading it wrong but it doesn't feel right.

That is the down side of letting the votes of the patrons decide everything. At least we don't have to worry about that here, Runey finds a nice balance between taking ideas from the fans, without letting it get out of hand.

Ann is a lot like Lin was when you were given the option to free her, she is afraid of what would happen to her if you let her go, after all, if you free her, she could be picked up by any random person and claimed. She has had a pretty easy time of it, as these things go, and she didn't want to risk it. I assume her attitude will change one day, but that could be a while.

Which means that the society itself will be faced with the uncomfortable awareness that the justification for the slavery of elves being just "animals" is probably not accurate. Runey already mentioned there are abolitionist sentiments around, even if we have yet to see them in game. Kali going to Uni is a nice opportunity - Lin brings her something immediately needed, runs into some abolitionist students, we get a big ole exposition about how not everybody, especially among younger generations, accepts the "elves are animals" bull - especially since the actor-queen herself is well known as a writer and media celebrity.

Thank you for thinking so much about my game! I appreciate how much you've paid attention to the story. I have some comments, but I won't say them because they would be too spoilery, but you'll get some answers in v0.11 :)

Yeah, I love feedback, and I obviously take criticism. You've been here longer than anyone, you're basically a vet on this site with more posts and likes than even a dev haha so you know what you're talking about. I wasn't born with the ability to make Harem Hotel at my current level, people criticized me along the way and the best thing to do is to take it into to account and consider it. I definitely considered making seperate routes based on how well you did in that game largely due to his voice, in fact I made a whole other UNIVERSE based on the idea that you lost that challenge by the way of The Toymaster. But, after more thought it's not something I want to do. Best I will do is a skip button, or the player could just skip it. I don't expect everyone to like 100% of the events in game.

I just got tired of seeing it, everytime cornwall was mentioned he brought all of this up again, and each time he does, pages of this thread are filled with nonsense and nothing ever changes...

Yes! Cornwall is very powerful and rich. Syl'anar is extremely capitalistic, allowing monopolies, and of course, slavery to exist. There are competitors, but as you'll learn in v0.11, they don't have the same level of power as Cornwall does.

Thank you! I do want to mention that enabling saves to work across versions was one of the first things I did as a beginner, it's something like changing how you create flags. Something super simple like changing 'define ash_friendship = 1' to 'default ash_friendship = 1', but I forget exactly, it's been a while.

I don't know exactly why saves don't work on summertime saga, or any other games if it's not just STS, but I've been told they did some weird stuff to the code a long time ago that effects saves. I don't know a lot about it, but I certainly didn't go the extra mile! It was simple :)

She'll definitely grow as a person, one of her biggest themes is corruption, and I wanted hers to be long and a complete paradigm shift
Every character in this has a long character development - nobody is what they were when you first met them anymore from a yandere to a pair of twin bullies. Fair to say she will be much the same and for all her faults i think people overlook how much she reflects on them and acknowledges them, questions what she has been taught and her heart is in the right place. Will she change enough to make you like her? perhaps not my friend but i think you should give her the benefit of the doubt at least till you complete all her current story to decide for yourself where you stand with her. She is still a work in progress though - no doubt about that one.
I have noticed that... some of the characters are changing in the story upon their issues being solved. So far I feel this is a DxD Hentai game run on Renpy. High praise from someone with my name. I realize Autumn isnt as fleshed out as Lin, Maria or Ashley are... but her sanctimonious behavior is really grating. I will see how things go, but its probably her behavior and part my disappointment that her spot wasnt Juliet. Who I was hoping was it but it wasnt... Regardless, I just became a Patron last night. So I like the game. Lol excuse me if I sounded anything else but that.

i do look forward to your ideas with Autumn, Runey. Dont think otherwise. *thumbs up*

Wonder if that's a genuine sentiment followed by some thinking about what exactly the elves are supposed to do even if they are "let to just live," or the all-too-common make-myself-feel-good "thoughts and prayers" with no meaningful action behind the words.

If the latter, I absolutely see Lin dress down somebody like that in public. You go, girl! ;)

Though Lin going self-assertive in that scene and talking that dood down ("if my mere existence threatens your worldview, then perhaps it's a faulty one?") would be so much win.
Thank you for thinking so much about my game! I appreciate how much you've paid attention to the story.
No, no, thank you for making such an engaging story on top of lovable characters that I actually care. I'm just along for the ride. :)

Which makes him even more important ally for MC to support, until the time is ripe to go Brutus on his back. In the meantime, he can be used to make elf lives better.

Ah, the joy of politics.

Like what? I've seen people criticise a number of things and it's always the same, he refuses to admit anything was a mistake.
And honestly I don't believe he ever actually intended to make any kind of alternative path. He said that at first to appease people when there was backlash against the scene (which for some reason he thought everybody would love o_O) but as soon as we tried to explore what that might look like he immediately dropped the idea.

Thanks for sticking to your guns on Autumn, Runey.
It's pretty rare to see a slow burn corruption like you're doing, so it's actually very refreshing. There's nothing more frustrating than playing a game where you're supposed to be corrupting someone and it requires godlike levels in suspension of disbelief for it to be enjoyable.

There's already been lots of changes in her attitude and overall personality with her current content (in my opinion), so it's exciting to look forward to each new corruption stage in updates. So please keep at your idea for her, it's awesome!
