The first is just cluttered mess, the second one is at least somewhat organised, so maybe there... I don't know though, it doesn't look a place to advertise anything that isn't straight-up porn game aimed at quick gratification. :/ Doesn't look promising to me...
r/lewdgames is actually an okay place. You can find games for "quick gratification" or games with story and build up.

Small 'games' of the first type appear more frequently, though. That caused the latter style of games to quickly move to the next page, and probably distorted your first take of the subreddit. But if you actually take the plunge and ask for recommendation, for instance, the subredditors will gladly point you to games of the latter type.

Thank you, that's kind of you to say so.

But Steam y'know that's not really something I'd thought of. Trouble is tho the game isn't complete. For sure, Chapters One to Three do, I suppose, make up "Book One" or "Season One" and they are pretty large with hours of play. But wouldn't the game have to be finished before I could do that?

*is on the very last upload and is watching it like a hawk as she chainsmokes like a 1960's Beagle*
As others have said, Steam can be used to launch games, even those that aren't finished yet.

I've done a lot of research into this for reasons. ;)

You can post it on Steam as "Early Access".

Almost by definition, a Steam "Early Access" game is not yet complete, and is still a Work-in-Progress.

The benefit of Steam, aside from its market base, is that you can leverage Steam's infrastructure to distribute your game, and deliver updates transparently.

You can even use its built-in "cloud save sync" facility, if you choose to do so. Though that will involve a bit of coding.

For a steam release you might want to re-package how you put the game together. Currently you have a folder for animations and then a renpy archive for all the images, you may want to make each chapter a seperate one so that when you update on steam people aren't re-downloading one through three.

This is how it's done for midlife crisis and I think Philly does that as well. Droid is unity so not sure how that works.

Well, I'm glad that you will at least consider Steam as an option.

Regarding the release..., it's so, so close. I can hardly wait. :eek:o_O

I scrolled a lot (in release posts) and didn't find any game clearly focused on the story. Let alone any such game that would have significant number of votes. Just porn everywhere... :/

It's obvious if you know it - I don't.

One of the probs of H5 being so big and complex, especially when you think it's just me, is that that side of the house, the comms and marketing side, often drifts purely due to time available. Now that is shooting myself in the foot I know and it's something I need to give a great deal of thought to once this bugger is set free (almost there thankfully!).

I know it's something most of my regulars are bothered about too.

Since nottravisgames.com redirect to your Patreon page the F95 link system probably think the forum is a Patreon page

It's uploading but Mega is taking a fucking age sadly which is just maddening.
Why not use Nopy, pretty sure one of admins of this site could get you the invite from Nopy and overall it works as good or better as mega with no limits.

Not exactly, Philly released as book one chapters 1 to 10. ViNovella (fetish locator) did week 1 and Droid also has book one releasing tomorrow. Can't remember how many chapters.

Not sure how you would go about packaging (if book one was 1 to 3) chapters 4 to 7.
Actually, for Philly's COBD, it was Chapters 1-7 packaged together as Book 1. Chapter 8 hasn't even come out yet but coming soon.

DPC's BADIK also packaged Chapter 1-4 as Season 1. Patreon release is on Chapter 5 now with 6 coming soon. Chapters 5-8 will eventually be packaged as Season 2 on Steam.

With most chapters ending in some sort of cliffhanger, the end of any chapter can be deemed a valid "season". If I recall correctly, Philly & DPC basically bundle things up to called it a season or book just by looking at overall size and say "yep, it's big enough both in terms of size & content".

It's a good way to actually start selling what you have already done. From a consumer point of view, I'd find classic Early Access where you buy the game as if it was complete and receive all future content automatically more preferable, but given the significantly larger dependence on patreon based funding, I can understand why they choose to do it like this.

Might be the best of both worlds.
