Am I the only one who actually liked both Ashley and Kaidan? Sure, on the surface they might seem a bit boring and basic in comparison to the cool alien crew mates, but they both have quite a bit of depth to them I would say.

I prefer Kaidan out of the two simply because I find Ashley's voice very irritating. Otherwise they are both fine as companions.

I actually liked Ashley.
Ashley being a xenophobe gave her character and provided some needed difference.
Many different aliens all working together on a ship for the first time and yet they all got along, so it was refreshing to show someone who wasn't okay with it.
All I know of Kaidan is he got headaches, at least him being dead he doesn't get them anymore.
Too bad, that is a good 'check' to have, but I guess someone who got in charge was unable to pass that check, and had it outlawed before their check bounced.
Suddenly Seymour, is standing beside you...Took me a minute to engage my brain, there. At first I thought "plant (singular) engineer": this guy is Seymour from LSoH!
Then I came back down to Ophion, and wondered if there're possible gay relationships for the MC (And why not, after all? Remember: A. C. I. O.!). I then took a guess at what Mike would look like with a red cap and moustache...
After all, he's a glorified plumber, so why not look like Mario? Or even like the construction worker in the Village people...
And then I had an epiphany: (sing to the beat of YMCA)

I just want to point out that if you romance him as a renegade you can actually make him openly Xenophobic in comparison to Ashley. Quite fun stuff. Still, I think the biggest thing that makes Kaidan seem boring is that out of all the crew members in the series, he is basically the only one who doesn't have daddy issues. He has already went through the rough part of his life back on Jump Zero, he has already come to terms with it and grown from the experience without Shepards help. Everyone else has some sort of issue or conflict in their life that Space Jesus either has to console them over or fix for them, while Kaidan is just your calm and principled second in command, the sort of dude you grab a beer with after work. Ashley by the way is never really Xenophobic in that way actually. The worst thing she says really is that she doesn't trust having aliens aboard, which is basically the same things as an American sailor not trusting having Chinese or Russian citizens aboard a prototype cutting edge Nuclear Submarine owned by the US Navy.

At some point our dear Notty will be adding a female protag at which point Ava's harem will almost be a reality albeit not with the exact girls I would like.
So while my MC is shacked up with these space babes there will be a bunch of blokes all fighting over the porn content and fapping away.

Each time I play ME Kaidan die, he's a sort of Kenny for me
