I get the feeling (from the regs, and the banter between the crew) that @Nottravis either served in the military or was around a large number of service members.

I was in the US Army myself, so it all feels very familiar. Knowing that she's from the other side of the pond made the whole Article 15 thing give me a chuckle. In the US that's .

So, how about it, Notty? Were you in the service, or a military brat, or just hung out with military folks and listened to how they talk to each other?

I tip my hat. It's always refreshing when writers of any stripe get the military stuff correct. It's even better when they've lived it.

Is a "bleep" a signal corps specialist?

As for me...

I thought that's what she might be getting at (if so, she is correct - it is kind of obvs). I don't have any of my old military stuff left over (except the DD-214) - all my paraphernalia was lost in a fire... that consumed the box it was in... along with all the clothes I wasn't wearing at the time... in the yard... set by my first ex-wife... before the divorce.

But yeah, Signal Corps - stationed in Europe. Did you know that the brass insignia (signal flags, rank insignia, backings for medals, etc) all melts into lumps in a fire like that?
