Still you would have lost a lot of the meaning from that scene, it is meant to be seen from all three viewpoints for the full impact and I agree, normally in most porngames that kind of scenes is a nono for me as well.
There comes a time when a writer needs to know it's okay to break the rules for maximum impact. That should add a warning to the game's description (don't remember if it did, can't be arsed to look it up now.)

That said, there's ways to write ACIO and there's ways to say "screw that, this is what I (the developer) like, and if you don't like it bugger off!"

Or is that too heretical for the ACIO cult? I mean, not everyone can be a member, right?

Since we mentioned all these Games i wanna add
hopesgaming only other suggested Games besides Heavy Five
Acting lesson, Being a DIK, Depraved Awakening and City Of Broken Dreamers
so thats puts @Nottravis in quite an elite Club... :)
so i wonder what games would Becca / The Author recommend?
(i dont dare to say notty in my second posting - oops but i put it in the posting...)
Those 5 titles actually represent only 3 devs, DrPinkCake, PhillyGames and Notty. That's a helluva club to belong to. He's not wrong.

Hrm, we seem to be going a tad off topic here?

But my own 2p's worth without reading all the discussion is that it is never OK to break the rules. Never. My own view, and it is just a view of course, is that you have a set framework of a world for the player to play in and you have to play fair.

You have to give them the information to make reasoned choices and that means the rules structure you have set up, you simply have to adhere to.

Pulling a plot point out of your bum to go "Gotcha!!!" is the laziest writing imaginable and does a huge disservice to the people who have been playing your game. It's unfair on them for a start, but also spoils and wastes the time and effort they have put into your product. It is of course, even worse, if they have been supporting that product for then you are, arguably, also taking money under false pretences.

And this is why we follow you, and why I for one support you on Patreon. :) I'm sure it's why most if not all of your patrons are patrons.

I'll add to this a tad.

You all know, for you are an intelligent and discerning crowd, that there is something iffy going on in this game. I've given you enough information to know that, for example. You also know that "bad ends" can indeed happen pace Chapter One. So should something bad go down at some point (and if it does it would also be as a result of your choices) you know it's already in the air. It wouldn't be a surprise now would it?

Equally, you know how I write which tends to be with a side order of drama or silliness depending, so you also know that it's not going to be graphic. So you know the rules. You're forewarned, yes?

Ah - I was speaking about the rules of writing. Not the rules of deliver on the promise of your premise - which you do *very well.

And in terms of ACIO - not every author/dev wants to go down that road. You are bravely showing the rest of us how it's done, so cheers!

* I almost said "quite well" then remembered that has a different meaning on that side of the pond. When I finally make it over there I'll have to watch myself to not say, when asked, "I think you look quite lovely in that dress" for example.

Yeah it worked pretty well and I do agree, major plot points and drivers should never be optional. Though it might commercially be wise sometimes if the content is very controversial to give player a choice not to see it. if the dev thinks though that a certain scene should be in the story and is important then just put it in.
Oh I would never, ever, lock content. Ever! It's a shocking practice. The story is the story etc. ACIO is purely about the sexual content you get with me. You may have noticed when playing I try to put lots of gates in (backed up by the MC's thoughts) to ensure you don't get a scene you don't want. It's why I'm surprised when some peeps go "Aaaargh, I didn't want that" to which I wonder if they can read.

The only thing I even come close to doing that with is the bonus extra's. Bored Pilot etc

Absolutely. No one should ever complain about anything bad happening. A fair game (in all meanings of the words that I can think of).:)

I agree that a writer should not lock content and should warn preferably when dark content is coming and makes it avoidable within the context of the game if possible. But when a scene even if disturbing is a part of the framework of the story you are telling in your eyes as a writer it should be in, whether I am happy about that or not. :p

These guys don't show me any respect anyway so I don't see why you should be more well mannered than the usual crowd ;)
Our love and adoration isn't enough, now she wants R.E.S.P.E.C.T.?!?!
...find out what it means to me?

"Rules, like traitors, were made to be broken!"
...you just have to know, when, where, and how.

Back to the old days of adventure games where they would literally let you walk off a cliff.
That's like

I don't have a problem with bad things happening, when it is the result of options, and making the right choices can avoid them. It bothers men when there is no way around it.
