Yep, they do. To me unrealistic body types are a huge turn off. I don't play almost any 2D art adult games for this very reason. I like hot air balloons in the air, not in girls. Well, maybe if they actually could float...

Haha. It was just an expression. :)
2D bothers me a lot less; In fact I quite like stylized art. But DAZ3D models in particular can look very "uncanny valley". Sometimes the lighting and facial expression makes them look dead and and there's weird body stuff it can be creepy.

EDIT: I just realized how judgemental i sound. Not that I think many people in this thread would disagree but still. I don't mind things I'm not into existing. If people like it, more power to them. I do want more of what I like though. I don't think I'm alone in this.

The problem I do have with most Male figures from Daz, Rendo and 'Rotica, is that they simply look totally unrealistic.
Even the ones supposed to look realistic are quite often overmuscled pinheads with the skin of a female supermodel. There are a few exceptions, and funny enough, I don't think they're really overused, since I actually rarely see them used in games at all. I do see a lot of variations though. Well, at least that one doesn't have the supermodel skin, but for the rest, that model is rather ridiculous, and not exactly aesthetically pleasing.
So yeah, finding nice male figures is an ongoing project. I found a couple, and do have my eyes on some more, but will definitely have to tweak and combine the bunch to get enough variation.

It depends a lot on what you want to focus on, I guess. Making male characters, who are mostly less important than the female ones, isn't really a priority. The real issue is when even the female characters are totally interchangeable and common. Personally, I tend to avoid games where I've seen the girls in more than one other game, it just denotes a kind of laziness in the dev :/

For example, I tried to create significantly different male profiles (and female as well ^^), and it doesn't take that much work. But I understand not wanting to spend much time in a background character. This is why "self-contained" games, such as Heavy Five, can solely focus on the main characters. When the whole story is done in a secluded place, you don't have to bother with making tons and tons of background characters. Only focus on the protagonists.

That being said, Notty's got quite the number of protagonists AND keep adding secondary characters in things like Channel 7, SP, the DeWitt movies  How can she keep that level of quality, then? Simple, the woman is a witch!.

My theory is it comes a lot from Asian H scene and silly preconception of adult gamers. A lot of developers seem to think strong male characters will emasculate us so they try make all male characters so that even the most flawed of us can look down at the game characters and feel superior

EDIT there are two types of developers. The artists trying to reaise a vision that will strive to deliver own story and the profiteers that copy whats popular and profile their target audience and deliver the content they think will make them most popular.

Don't crush my dreams, cute readheads are totally my ballpark if she's not litterally perfect I might cry
If you like cute redheads, you should give Alison Fall of the Apple a go, it has a very cute redhead in it that may or may not be based on our own Ava (it totally is)

Fair warning though, she only appears on the domination path, it's not an evil domination path though. :) I don't think it's evil anyway.

Who the hell can afford a thousand games in one year? And just for Steam, I mean I have more games than that from other stores, and then there's consoles... Anyway my point is, i have more games than I could probably play until I fucking die. At that point "too many" is kind of moot.

Oh God aye. What you think looks fine can turn out not to be in certain situations. Plus add in the fact that all poses and clothes are made for fucking stick models and you can get a lot of work on your hands from left field all of a sudden. I think I've said before that Becca is a total cow to work with due to her body shape.
Yeah, and make sure you look at them from many angles, because what looks good form one angle, might ot from some other...
I'd say there are three kinds of straight male players when it comes to female protagonists. Those who play them as lesbians because they insert their own sexual orientation, those who are not really playing them and just want to see sex, and then there's me. :)
I don't mind flirting or something a bit, but there are limits to how far I can role play certain things. Or rather, how far I am willing to take certain things.
Totally. You can create a character only once (well, some remake them midgame, which I utterly dislike). Make the best of it, I say, the tools are there.:)
Remaking form like gen3 to 8, or trying to make some touch ups, I can see, but when you go some a completely new design, then no, I have dropped some games I really liked because of that.

I prefer 2D, my problem with daz is that it tries to look so real, but is so unrealistic in so many ways... Hell, I have seen many 2D games with more moralistic nipples than many daz games, for example. :sneaky:

It all depends on what you mean by ...'perfect'.
Sounds like your steam account is only a year old. Maybe 5k backlog with a 8k played might be too many.
Had one for about 5 years now, and I have about5-10 games on it... :p

Thankees. Although to be fair mebbe easier for me to tweak male chars into something ...attractive? :)
Pretty sure that you are way better at tweaking male characters into something sexually attractive:p, since I do look differently at males. On the other hand producers of boybands seem pretty adept at forming groups that work for the demographic they are aimed at.

Profiteers sounds kind of negative though. It is more or less standard practice nowadays in bigger business that products are marketed and produced based upon the likes of their target audience. Whether that is in the arts, car industry, food or whatever industry. Unfortunately that also means there is less room for craftsmanship and a glut of products that are designed for the taste of the majority and has little defining personality of its own since they all target mainly the same group. It may not lead to great individual work, but is pretty cost efficient if boring.

But you haven't met her yet. Maybe she has insufferable personality, bunnies notwithstanding. :p
Well McGruder will have some rough edges for sure, then again is that not what makes her uniquely her and lovable or hateable?
