Until now, I thought you were just another normal user of the forum with whom I could disagree but didn't think were an ass. I must admit I'm starting to lean toward the latter. I pondered about answering you in private, but decided against it. Let this be my last word on the matter.
Do you think that Gumdrop's games are finished, just not released?
Maybe he hold back with releasing his games just to give his fans more excitement? What do you think?
So could you explain me why a lot people here hate Gumdrop so much? He doesn't owe anything to anybody, including his patreons. People are free to support him or not, but according to your words, they are not allowed to expect anything from him, because he isn't their slave/bitch. A lot of them didn't even spent a cent for his game, but they already wanted to ban him from Patreon and Steam. Why? Why do people hate creators who put quality over quantity? Do you think it is because of jealousy? Or is it something else?
Dude, what's your obsession with the guy? It's getting creepy.
I'll try to answer seriously. I don't know the guy, I don't play his game and I would be unable to tell you its title if I don't search for it first o the forum. I don't even want to talk about it, because I'd rather not falsely accuse someone I don't know for things I have absolutely no interest in. But I can talk about Nottravis.
Nottravis is either a great person or a great actor. Could be both. Her interaction with pirates and patrons is always funny, interesting, exciting and longed-for. Most of us are following her since she first launched the game, few of us knew her before that (Ava, for example), and we all saw her grow from then. We worried when she was sick and couldn't contact us, not because of the fear of losing a great game in the making but because she made that much of an impact on us. We still worry when she tries what she's doing now (taking upon herself to work extra), still not because of the game, but because we don't want her to burn out. Because we care. I don't know Gumdrop, so I can't say what his relationship is with his fans, but to us, Notty matters as a human being first, and as a dev second.
I didn't ask her to change her mind. I do not insist on it.
I only expressed my opinion and now I defend it after a few people here jumped at me.
So, in the other words: "You are free to like it or not, but if you don't, just shut up"?
Wasn't my meaning, but feel free to do so.
Why? Do you have any negative feelings about him?
See above.
I asked her several times (here and in PM). At first she claimed that she would make the previous chapters available for free. Then she said that she will put Chapter 2 in Tier 1 soon. Finally, she said that she will put Chapter 2&3 in Tier 1 when Chapter 4 will be released. But as you can see, this date increasingly moving away. That's why I'm a little disappointed.
This! This is the only part of your message that holds any substance. This is the heart of the matter and this is why I still wish to believe you're not a fucktard but really just a disappointed guy that tries to be heard among us fans who might have lost perspective, blind as we are by Notty's greatness (slight exaggeration, but you get what I mean). So yeah, I get what you mean. Doesn't matter if devs are actually our bitch or not, doesn't matter if one's a patron or not. Word has been given and word has not been kept. It sucks. You're disappointed and I understand.
I have to disagree with you. Not all games are like that. I will give you two examples: Chloe18 and Milfy City. These games are huge. Both of them have a lot of content. But to be honest, they are no so demanding. You don't have to know the whole universe to enjoy them.
H5 is different. It's like TLJ (The Longest Journey), but with many paths. It is not linear. You have to read notes and listen carefully to all conversations because they can affect your future choices. This is a huge difference.
We have a similar situation with Tlaero's games. They are semi-linear, with one canonical path and a few others. But you still have to be very careful about your choices and you have to listen what other characters say. I enjoyed all Tlaero-Phreaky games as well as Mortze's Pandora and all games from Elsa universe. But I gave up on all episodic ones. I knew that I would not be able to enjoy them in this form.
This non-trollish part of the message also deserves a serious reply, so here it is. It is true that all games are not like that. It was not my intention to imply that ALL games had the same issue, but most of them that are serialized do. And even Milfy City, whose plot could be written on a stamp with big letters, would require to replay it to remember all that happened in the game. Only difference is I don't care for anything that happened in the earlier release since I've seen actual porn with smarter plot.
A game like Heavy Five requires more. It requires the player to pay attention, to care about the characters, to learn about their motivations. It's a rewarding game for those that do all that, but Notty also assures us that it can be played without diving too deep into the plot. I could believe her, but since I did the dive, I won't be able to know if it's true.
Wanna make a bet? Oh, I have a better idea: If Notty fails to release the complete game (including the update with female MC) by December 31, 2020, then you will become a Gumdrop subscriber (Tier 4 - $20/month) for the next year. Agree?
Dude, seriously.
