To extract it? Won't it still use the scripts in the archive?
Yes. If you edit it directly into the RPA, you'll break the whole RPA file and all the scripts. Is unren mandatory ?
No, Ren'py will use the most recent version. You can, eventually, have an error when you'll try to launch the game for the first time, with Ren'py not wanting to work. But just launch it again and everything will be good this time ; it's just Ren'py making a fuss to have some attention. To extract it? Won't it still use the scripts in the archive?![]()
It works! But I had to change the talkfmc picture from jpeg to png.Yes. If you edit it directly into the RPA, you'll break the whole RPA file and all the scripts.

Normally it wasn't needed. Ren'py shouldn't care about the extension. As long as it's a supported one, it will load the image even if the format isn't the one implied by the said extension. But I had to change the talkfmc picture from jpeg to png.![]()
Hmm. Are you sure you have "BASE talk" and not "BASE_talk"?I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, I followed the instructions but only have the talkmc without the BASE talk

Yeah, that's the first thing I checkedHmm. Are you sure you have "BASE talk" and not "BASE_talk"?
Hmm... Looks like you forgot the change in script.rpy, or to save the file after you changed itI have no idea what I'm doing wrong, I followed the instructions but only have the talkmc without the BASE talk![]()
I checked multiple times, the change is done, saved and still there when I re-open it (I renamed the old scripts script backup.rpy and script backup.rpa and put them in another folder for good measures so there shouldn't be a conflict)Hmm... Stop here, it's the error. Put this file outside of the "game" directory (and not in a sub directory). Ensure that you also removed the rpyc version of this file.[...] (I renamed the old scripts script backup.rpy[...]
That's a very good thing to know. This might be useful to note in your step by step guide. Initially, I also made a backup of the script file before I decided to extract fresh new iteration of the game for this purpose.Stop here, it's the error. Ren'py don't care of the name, he'll see "whatever.rpy", he'll think that it's a script and use it. Therefore, you changed the line in the original... then revert the change in the backup![]()
It's my own fault for renaming it script backup.rpy, had I changed the extension and named it script.bak I assume I wouldn't have had any problemsThat's a very good thing to know. Done, more or less. That's a very good thing to know. This might be useful to note in your step by step guide.
Nice, but making it either Kirk or Riker would have been more lore friendly.Hurray ! Thanks !

If I want to make a backup of a file in the game folder, I right click and add to a compressed file (script.rar for example), then I can safely edit or delete the original and it won't affect the running of the game. That's a very good thing to know. That's young Jean-Luc. He's always looked the same.Nice, but making it either Kirk or Riker would have been more lore friendly.![]()
