My opinion on this dev has really soured these past weeks. Feels like even if he somehow releases this update in one or two days as he claims, he will have forever broken people's trust in him and that he now comes across as a scummy/shady dev. Let's be real, 2+ years without any update for any active AVN dev, is not acceptable and should not be condoned like from what I've seen on his itch.io page, especially when you collect money from backers all the while this happens. Now, from what I understand this is also a christmas update and not the actual main update that everyone actually wants. If so, that's bizarre to me, why would he release this now instead of focusing his efforts on releasing the main update as quickly as possible and save the christmas update for you know... christmas.

Anyways, sorry about the mini-rant. Just felt like I had to vent out my opinion on this dev and this whole situation.

Because since the beginning of this joke, the christmas update was a headlong rush to hide the fact that the dev is incompetent and delusional, and cannot reach any of his objectives. Today, the christmas update is probably do-able in a few days, while the real update probably still is at least 1 year of work ahead. It is his only way to really prove that he is still working, even if it means delaying the real update even further.

There is no "big update." Komisari was just talking crap and making "sneak peeks" to feign that he's working. When in truth he did nothing all this time. The Christmas update will come out I'm sure. Maybe in a month or so and all his fans will stick around anyway. Thinking they pwned the haters.

Just for the sake of argument, let's say he has been working on everything all this time. What I read (back when he still posted updates about what he was doing) was that he developed a lot of systems and mechanics. Now, will those be in the Christmas update?
Yes: the update shouldn't take too long, because he said the mechanics took a lot of time. However, if they are good enough to publish in a small update, then they are good enough for the big update.
No: Komisari is still fine publishing without these mechanics, proving that they are not needed. So why not publish a bigger update, or more updates, without those mechanics?

I still don't like to use words like scam because scam always implies intent. This might be utter incompetence instead. Regardless, at this point it's ridiculous, especially if you think back about him arguing this game is not abandoned.

I repeat what I said before. Komisari is the only who can release anything, so until something is released there is nothing. Whether the dev is then actively working on it makes no difference to their audience.

If it weren't a scam he would stop taking donations. Its not like he needs that much money to develop this game in the first place. Renpy is free, Koikatsu he already has, he is using a lot of free assets, he is working alone on it so he doesn't have to pay any wages to someone else.
Only logical conclusion is up until now he just pocketed about 4-5k for 2 years monthly. Its not like he has to have a lot of money intake or even has to keep up with deadlines apparently.

I've been following his Discord. Apparently, he's actually done. All that's happening now is the testers are looking for bugs and the proofreaders are un-ESL-ing 6 months of content.

IT'S FINALLY HAPPENING, LADS.

And it's not like there is any sort of "real" online reputation. When people eventually stop paying he'll just crap together a new project on itch.io under another name and start the cycle over.

Again, I agree with the sentiment of him not releasing the money's worth, but a scam implies intent. And "he would stop taking donations" is not proof of intent to scam. It might as well be negligence, belief that what he is doing is actually worth it, or any other reason.

Seeing is believing. It has either happened, or not happened. For us, there is no happening, because that happening would have to include the last 2+ years of nothing.

I still don't think Komisari had any bad intentions or will. He's simply a procrastinating moron. Never attribute to malice what can be attributed to simple idiocy. Many porn game developers have no job experience or higher education in real life and have no real work ethic or discipline.

Now imagine the luxury of working at home and being able to set whatever hours you want, with money just banking in every month even if you don't do anything. When you give these privileges to people who have never held an actual job irl, they immediately procrastinate.

This obviously doesn't excuse anything, but there is a reason why most porn games suck mega ass. People have incredibly low standards for them and thus are willing to pay no matter what.
