Michelangelo only needed four years and no Patreon subs to paint the Sistine Chapel. If it was Komi, his descendants still working on it to this day would only have one third of it complete, because you know, Quality. :D
This is a bad comparison. No offense Komi, but I don't think our HHG dev is as talented (or as single-mindedly) devoted to his craft as fucking Michelangelo.

That dude's been remebered 4 centuries after his death; don't think this porn game's gonna be remembered for that long

But have pasience. Komi is still really talented; he'll deliver

Dude, my beautiful comparison describes the exact difference in talent between a TRUE artist and feature creeping novice dev.

The most important point about it is the fact that Komi will never have a Ninja Turtle named after him.

Patience is for dead people, because that's what we'll all be via father time when Komi delivers.

It's still a disingenous comparison though. Plenty of "true artists" never finished their work and plenty of crap on here is feature complete and still terrible.

Komi is slow, but gives quality updates. That's what matters. People need to stop being salted about who other people give their money to.

You are what you produce. If you produced 0 art pieces you are not an artist. Maybe only a con-artist.

but gives quality updates
Quality updates equals, non-existent consistency (last update on patreon were 2 month ago), and half dead trello page. Not even gonna go into what is in those inconsistent updates. lol

Is "Kami" in-game yet or does she still only exist in customs, sneak-peeks from three years ago, and komi's profile image?

Komi is slow, but gives quality updates
what updates? I first played this game like three and a half years ago and what's come out since then?

Then I guess there was some Halloween side content? Three events (four counting the intro) and grinding for candy, are you counting that?

Then there was the Christmas update that was released in May and took him like 7 months to develop? Are you counting *that*? That was not quality. I recall that despite releasing four months late, its release was an absolute dumpster fire. The script wasn't proofread at all, it had huge lag and performance issues for several days, and visuals really seemed like a downgrade over his previous work.

You play 20 questions with all the LI's to remind the player of everything they've forgotten in the last three years, a somehow even worse fishing game, a nonsensical self-pitying story about how hard it is to finish stuff, and to top it off, all the commissioned lewd animations included at the end didn't even have events made around them, they just get thrown in at the end. Is this the "quality updates" you're talking about? Or did Komi stealth release chapter 1 when I wasn't looking?

They were not commissioned, I animate them myself, and yeah, I was already taking a lot of time so I kinda rushed that final part.

- The latest Patreon post from December of last year
The post kinda reads like one of those clickbait things where they use 30 pages of word salad to distract you. Then I see the mention of Unity and wonder if that's a half-scratch on a bingo card.

And frankly, I finally tried the Christmas update from last year, and it similarly had a 'running the clock' feel;

The weird sort of 'by clicking continue you agree' like it's a EULA.

The inability to hit 'back' when you're asking trivia questions that yeah we forgot the answers to because we haven't played the game in so long.

p.s. the fishing stuff sucks with a touchpad, but less so than other 'twitchy' minigames I've seen in renpy, so good for thatI suppose.

Its really fucking weird to be showing and discussing scrapped content thats an alternative to still-unreleased story. This kind of development process background and scraped plot ideas is the kind of stuff you talk about after people have had the main experience. Like director's commentary released as bonus content to a feature film.

The details on Komi's actual process here, or the scope of what he's working on is pretty slim. There's nothing concrete about what gameplay changes or features are planning to actually be included. Over the years there have been numerous ideas floated, from expanding or replacing existing mechanics, adding procedural dungeons, adding combat. But as far as I know there's been no recent update as to which of these are scrapped or on hold and what's still being worked on. What I can gather is "I will be releasing chapters with events." Which we already knew. For a long time (years) the claim was that chapter 1 would be 3x the content of the prologue. Not sure if that's still true. It seems like that's not true. Then it ends with "
Finish HHG and move to another engine, like Unity, and make the exact same gameplay there." Like that's a 15 year goal at this rate, not a plan. A plan would be like "I'm doing 2 releases in 2024. The first will be just the next major story events of chapter 1, then an end of the year update will focus on updating all the game systems and mechanics to my final vision and retcon/fix all the early prologue stuff I need to fix for the rest of the story to work."
