Save games
Save games transfer across versions.
You'd need a save game from before 0.0.8 for them not to be compatible.
Which is around 4 years ago.
So you will experience no loss in progress between versions.
(Though people who cheat or mod can manage to screw up their saves so much that they'd need to restart eventually, but that comes with the territory of cheating).

Holiday island is a project and a game
I guess it is worth adding that the "game" is actually a long term project in renders (Moving past its 4th year now).
So it will not behave as a game-game in the way content is made or what is relevant.
This also means any x needs y, is a non-starter (though people still try of course, internet will be internet).
The project decides, the game recieves.

- Darkhound put his art on Deviant art before the game became the primary recipient of his project creations, so if you want to see older art by him, thats the place to go. It is not active currently, but there is a huge repository there.

Though as it happens Miriam and Mercedes are an acquired taste.
I was none too fond of them at their introduction in 2019.
It took me some years to come around to them as a matter of fact.
But moving on to rendering has changed my perspective (as Ivyness and Mi shows).
Mumblings aside, some background trivia for Miriam and Mercedes.
Ancient Lore : MnM origins
They have their conceptual origin in a cave woman, who hails from GreenT64 (by and large no longer active).
Darkhound engaged with GreenT64 and an agreement was made.
Upon moving into the Darkkhound "sphere" of girls, the cave woman concept was split into two persons, Miram and Mercedes are born. (The story behind can be found on Deviant Art and Patreon

Just came back to the game after a veerrry long time and I think I borked something, possibly with a mod that's not used any more. The problem is all of the girl's strength stats are beyond the player's, so I can't lift the weights for them at the gym. Not a huge deal, but I'm a completionist and trying to fill all the picture slots seems impossible now.
So, question; is there any way to lower that strength stat or do I just need to stop loading these old saves and start a new one from scratch?

From the info you provided, I'm guessing you were using a very old mod and not the one created by the Nice Erotic and the developer. First uninstall it if you can and then download the 'official' Companion Mod (linked on the first page) and install it and try your old save. Also worth downloading the Companion Guide (also linked on the first page) to learn of other changes and new improvements to the game. Between the two you should be able to complete all achievements without too much trouble. Good luck!

The amount of work that Darkhound has put into this game is absolutely insane. It just keeps going and going, mixing everyday chores and interactions with a dense, rich and very interesting plot. And to think he considers this is just a 30% of a supposedly finished first full version is mind blowing...
It's true that, at some points, it can become a bit repetitive, but even then, you still have goals and stuff to do. And when you get to another big plot point, it's all worth it.

Hi guys and gals, this post offers you a collection of news about the next version of Holiday Island (0.3.1).
The change log below is based on the release 0.3.0.0.
The next main release is 0.3.1 which will be an incremental update for Windows, Linux and Mac. It will include new features and some bug fixes as well.
As of right now, the update from 0.3.0.0 to 0.3.1.0 has:

- The beach bar will be turned into a location you can visit --> still working on it
- Desire gets an extended workout yoga scene --> still working on it
- Yvette gets another appointment at the beach during sunset --> still working on it

- Alice gets a web search with 6 images (shipendale lingerie) --> still working on it (renders are done)

- The cooldown at the lifeguard tower was also triggered when the lifeguard wasn't present --> will be fixed with version 0.3.0.1
- Severe stuttering and lags on some PCs on animations using the animation player. The reason is the added "game time" timer --> will be fixed with version 0.3.0.1
- File "game/actions.rpy", line 1967, in <module> NameError: name 'l_walk_image' is not defined --> will be fixed with version 0.3.0.1
- File "game/loc_pool.rpy", line 565, in <module> NameError: name 'l_inclination' is not defined --> will be fixed with version 0.3.0.1

I hope next time the dev maybe considers an update focusing purely on tier 3 girls. Some i like but i kinda neglect inviting to the island much because their lack of content makes them feel "inferior" if that makes sense. Im seeing whats being worked on and there is looking like another half a dozen Yvette events... I love me some Yvette, im on board for more of her but i feel we can give her a back seat for an update as i think she now has about as many events as the entire tier 3 girls combined haha.
We can maybe get a Lacey and Natasha focused update with for a "little and large" theme haha or thinking about it obv Ivy works in that regards as well so we throw her in the mix too! Keep up the good work.

I also am on board with more Yvette but have been thinking about how the tier 3 girls can get a boost without too much labor from the Developer.
Obviously, this would be for the future, and maybe far in the future as the Creator is busy trying to tell the story and secrets of the island. Any writer will tell you that it isn't a good idea to interrupt this process. Plus, what you are asking is like going backwards since it is filling in parts that the other girls already have. This can be a boring, repetitive process.
Still, it might be possible to add 1 girl to each update for 3 or 4 updates.
I have suggested Delizia, not because she's my favorite (although she wins every Best Butt contest that I judge), but because a lot of the design work has already been done. We've seen her do yoga poses. Getting a look at her boobs during the beach walk would be fairly easy to add. The pool distractions don't require many renders. Most of all, there would be very little writing for the Designer to do.
Compare this with Natasha: since Natasha already has a lot of the content the other girls have, extra content for her requires a lot more work. Just think how much writing goes into the Hot Shots game!

Not discounting your suggestions, but you seem hung up on the idea that all the girls have to have similar achievements.
i.e. Yoga in gym with extras and/or play in the pool as an example. None of which, in my opinion add anything to the game. Delizia is obviously my favorite and I could care less if she ever has yoga or a swimsuit malfunction. Why the Tiers came about and who is in which tier has already been covered numerous times. Tier 1 girls get the majority of the new content as they should, since it has already been established they are the developer's and fan favorites. Let the game advance as darkhound has envisioned it and whatever content the lower tiers get along the way is fine.
I completely agree with that. A lot of work has gone into creating the lab. I hope Darkhound does not postpone using the lab and the girls that inhabit it. Well, maybe if he has another story line coming up. But certainly not for more content for tier 3 girls. That's what makes them tier 3 girls, they have less content than tier 1 girls.
