Version 0.2.1 beta - development news (updated 18. April 2020)

Hi guys and gals, this post offers you a collection of news about the next full version of Holiday Island (0.2.1 beta) and the smaller updates towards it.​
There will be smaller, more frequent content updates, called content addons. They will include bug fixes and new content as well.
The change log below is based on the beta 0.2.0.0 release.​

The next release is 0.2.1.0 beta which will be a full update for Windows, Mac and Android.
It will include a lot of new features and some bug fixes as well.​
As of right now, the update from 0.2.0.0 to 0.2.1.0 has:
305 additional renders, videos or sound files
21 updated renders (Yumiko poker, Heather poker, Desire sexting)​

New features and content
  • Desire will get the "heat" scene after the hotshots game --> still working on it
  • Faye will get a beach pose scene in the evening when the sun sets --> still working on it
  • Yvette and Faye get a scene at the pool wearing the same bikini model --> will be available with 0.2.1.0
  • Heather gets a "Desires and Wishes" quest to obtain the "sexy nurse" outfit --> will be available with 0.2.1.0
  • Heather gets a second poker reward scene --> will be available with 0.2.1.0
  • Heather gets a poker reward scene --> will be available with 0.2.1.0
  • The "companion mod for Holiday island":

    gets a bigger update and will be available on my patreon together with 0.2.1 as a separate download --> will be available with 0.2.1.0

Minor improvements and changes
  • Brenda's photo studio appointment is repeatable now --> will be part of 0.2.1.0
  • Desire's sexting images have been upgraded to 2560x1440 webp format and 4 new ones have been added --> will be part of 0.2.1.0
  • Image quality of "wall images" in new player room has been greatly improved --> will be part of 0.2.1.0
  • Hotshots now supports images in 2560x1440 size in addition to the old 1920x1080 image size --> will be part of 0.2.1.0
  • You will have twice the number of save game slots now. A scroll bar has been added to each "save page" --> will be part of 0.2.1.0
Bug fixes
  • The new posing interface had some image sizing and text order inconsistencies --> will be fixed with 0.2.1.0
  • On some systems there are code conversion error with Renée during the update phase --> will be fixed with 0.2.1.0
  • If you missed an appointment from Joy's "Desires and Wishes" mailbox quest line, she will not send a new one and you can't get another one at reception --> will be fixed with 0.2.1.0
  • The weight lifting/bench presses workout did not increase the workout per week counter for some girls --> will be fixed with 0.2.1.0
  • If you missed the appointment to stay the night with Amy, she did not send a new one --> will be fixed with 0.2.1.0
  • Amy max love/affection quest line. There was a bug that could lead to a wrong quest sequence. You could do the arm wrestling before the massage, screwing up the quest line --> will be fixed with 0.2.1.0

Is the update going to break save games?

0.2.1.0 beta --> Save games from 0.0.8 and later can still be used. Earlier saves are no longer supported.​

Yes, "exactly for" does makes sense, but for flow and better usage, the preposition should come first and the adverb next since "exactly" should be in the prepositional phrase. Also, the adverb should be next to "how long" since that is what it is modifying. However, as I mentioned, not really essential.
You mention that you found about 50 errors. Darkhound1 is correcting errors daily but doesn't bother to report that on his update for 2.1, though. Maybe what you are seeing has already been fixed.
If you want the text, you can use the unren program to open the files so that they can be viewed as a text file. (Note that this can hamper your ability to use updates and you may have to reinstall instead.) Still it should be reproduced in the format I used so that darkhound1 can easily view and correct it.
What I would suggest is that you keep a text file open as you play. When you find an error, note it, then later, get it in the right format and attach the whole thing as a text file. This editing is not darkhound1's favorite activity because he'd much rather use his time creating sexy images, but he is committed to making an enjoyable and professional looking game, so he does it. However, it is his project and he is free to ignore your changes.

I have no problem reporting what I think are dialogue errors in either format or both. I just want to be able to help get them fixed if they are indeed errors.

I'd like the girls to have more jobs. Aly and Eva should be maids (with Eva doing a half-assed job).
I think Ivy would make a good masseuse. Maybe she could have a dream for the PC to give her a massage. During this she confesses that she wants to become one. I probably should have asked my question a better way, which is my fault. How do I open the photo studio? I'm at like 120 days and still haven't figured it out.

Perhaps this will seem like a strange suggestion, but I would love if the game included some plain/heavy/ugly girls to invite to the island.

Hear me out...

The player could help them train on the island and use company favor to buy them beauty treatments from Joy. Then after you’ve set a good foundation you can send them off the island to change their appearance. When you invite them back, they are beautiful like the rest of the girls.

You could even have their personality change on the return trip based on how the player treated them when they were unattractive. Girls who were treated poorly may return but be cold and hard to win over. Girls who were jealous could come back with something to prove. Girls who were romanced would come back eager to repay the favor.

While I'd love to see some fan fiction of Joy helping girls like this (also, as part of her research), sort of like Joy side quests. Unfortunately, to add new girls to the island who change would be prohibitive. Some time ago it was suggested that the PC could change as he used the beauty cream and got stronger. A set of light weight images and heavy weight images would have to be added. The number of images which would have to have been added was over 1000.
I suggested something along the line of Easter Eggs, that might have been workable. Add kitchen workers, etc. who appear in the background of the restaurant, pool, beach, wherever. Before day 30 one could be fat, one skinny, and the like, but as time goes on, they get prettier and prettier until they all have figures like Heather or Jessica or Aly.
By taking away the interaction with such characters, the number of renders gets greatly reduced (to about 6 per girl, times about 3 kitchen workers, 1 gardener, 1 pool cleaner, to 30 renders total).
Remember, darkhound1 is working on many, many ideas, his own and others, so he has this on the back burner. Will we ever see it? Maybe one day; never say never.
Until then, write some fan fiction of your own and post it here. If people like it, dreat! If one of the skilled renderers who post here like it, maybe one of them will illustrate it. You never know.
