That image is funny as hell and it is incredibly likely that that is exactly what happened here, unfortunately. Idk what it is about porn that brings the absolute worst out of these dev teams. They might not have had these problems if they weren't charging obscene amounts for their games and expansions, basically begging for sites like this one to post their content instead. I mean, look at Koikatsu, $60 for a character creator and another $55 for the actual game. And they never go on sale. That had to have severely crippled their total sales. I'm still hoping there is more for this game, even if it's just mods/plugins because they actually did a really good job cleaning it up, making the models actually look good and fixing their lighting and shading.I think he captured it well:
I can picture the meeting quite well:
>Ok, guys, I know we have no money, and only 2 bottles of lube left, but I have the perfect plan to turn this ship around! Have you guys seen how well HoneySelect sold?
>>Guy yells from the back: HoneySelect 3?! :O
>No. You have to thing bigger. The second best selling one was Koikatsu.
>>The second guy in the group: Koikatsu 2 (actually this time)?! :O
>NO! Think bigger! theatrically claps hands We merge them! We combine HoneySelect and Koikatsu into a whole new game!
One guy gasps, the other flat out faints in awe. This is how HoneyCome was born. An afternoon later it was announced, two weeks later shipped and failed to meet any expectations.
In fact, it may be the key to this game moving forward. That being said, this one does have something RG lacked, it's Anime styled, and anime peeps have a tendency to be tenacious as all hell, so may work something out, but it's going to take a while before any of that has a chance to happen. Question is, will the interest last that long?
You forgot the part about:I think he captured it well:

I'd kill for an modern day graphical version of AA2, but with all the same mod support. Koikatsu just isn't anywhere near there.
I never really played the games much either, but have hundreds (maybe thousands?) of hours messing around with the studios over the past decade. Which for this game I feel will turn out pretty good, because the new facial expressions look much better than in KK. The updated body structure for both guys and girls look better as well. New maps also look to be redone in a more anime style compared to what they had in KK. The illgames website already mentions that "create studio" will be coming, though with no ETA.But if NewIllusion will decide never release a Studio of any sort, it will be worst product ever (IMHO).
That's actually not true. Game developement has never been as cheap and easy as it is now. You can just buy assets for a fraction of the money it would have cost you years ago to do them yourself. Entire game features can be bought pre-done on asset stores. Top level engines are completely free, until you actually make money, no more spending weeks or month with some low-level graphics frameworks to get some basic shapes to render. Not to mention physics, sounds, animate, etc.People don't realize that they had a tiny budget for this game and that the game development nowadays is much more costly than it was in AA2 times(+ they are an official company and not just an indie collective so they have to pay taxes and do other legal stuff). IMHO we should appreciate that they managed to release at least something and nailed the optimization. It would be a big loss if they completely shut down. I hope they gonna add more assets with new dlcs and ain't gonna mess with the game code to ruin mod development.
Thanks, man. You saved some of my time, because i was like "wtf?.."No. They're Illusion Soft...just with a different name.
I can easily agree it could be improvement in look, expression or even model complexity. However manga / anime style used in KK/KKS is more forgiving than in any other semi-realistic games. Instead of modeling face, making character for example angry, we may use some emoticons with fire and replace eyes. It would work.I never really played the games much either, but have hundreds (maybe thousands?) of hours messing around with the studios over the past decade.
