It depends on their looks for me honestly... I rather lean young than old... but despite being gay, your absolutely right that this character not only looks young, he is pretty "fugly" (fucking ugly for those that dont know).
As for your other point I prefer to play a... lets call them "18" year olds than an old dude... I'd take Max's model (Big Brother) over the MC from Intimate Relations any fucking day of the week, and twice on sundays...
That said I agree with you on a young 25-30 year old dude being my dream MC (male-wise that is)... At that point I'd hope the dude is out of college and has a decent job, so its believable that bitches flock to him for either looks, or social standing.... And he just recently decided to remake one of his VN with no content into a free-roam grind with no content, calling it a remake once more.
He works on like 4 games simultaneously, all of them horrible and complete garbage.
If he'd just ONCE do a decent freaking story with decent models and without grinding bullshit or game over at every corner, then MAYBE he'd be actually an okayish developer.
