This is such shifting the blame that i don't even know why it keeps coming back, the game establishes one person wants to reconnect, the other(by his own admission) is making it as difficult as possible, and we blame the person who is trying to reconnect...

I know the MC is suppoused to be "us" so we end up sympathizing, but how about taking some responsability?
And yes the levels of his "dumb anger" are pretty extreme, like i never seen in RL, but that doesn't mean you should shift the blame to other side, it's still on his court.

BTW, i did travel as a teen, my mom required to know everything, who is picking you up at the airport, where you are gonna stay... no way she would agree to "i'll find my way once i'm there".
Many elements could've caused a denial, and there's still a stonewalling asshole making things as difficult as possible on the other side.

Real serious threat, like I'll make your life living hell or something like that. She would not say that in the first place if it was that. I think it must be something that Ethan has prior knowledge, so she had to explain and threatened Ethan to prevent spreading as a last resort.

The situation is indeed fairly forced, how he kept without contact for 5 years, i would easily agree with you if you were criticizing it in terms of writing.

I just don't think it should be used as an attack on Erynn, the situation to me is more of a "mistakes were made on both sides, some bad luck, some unfortunate timing... it's time for us to move on", rather than what could've been done differently... no way of going back anyways.
