GelonG Looks like you've deleted the post I meant to respond to... but I want to apologize for my rather knee-jerk reaction to this thread - I should've actually played it before saying anything. I was just going by the description and previews, which made it seem like literally the only thing this and the original had in common was Jack himself, heh.
Glad to hear most characters will be returning - hopefully that'll include all of Jack's companions (Selena, the Orc and ex-nun whose names I can't remember... and of course his dog!)
Can't decide how I feel about the change in prologue. On the one hand, the original's sci-fi-ish intro was... largely irrelevant (though the one dark-skinned explorer getting stranded naked and alone - possibly in Jack's time? - seemed like it could lead somewhere interesting). On the other... Azazel's story is just staggeringly depressing - not the best mood-setter for an hgame.
I'm torn on the change in Jack's objective, too - "rescue his kidnapped family from an evil king and lecherous prince" has a much more optimistic, adventurous feel to it than "
kill the royal shitstain who murdered his fiancee." That said, the significant discussion of
necromancy and resurrection seem to suggest a truly happy end may still be possible - and in the meantime, "
Angry-Spirit Anna" could be very interesting if it's actually explored and not just Jack dreaming (plus she's
really fuckin' sexy that way
)
