This is one of the better VNs I've played. The setting and characters are interesting and feel natural. I actually got invested in the story. I hope to play a complete version someday.
You have been here since at least 2016, actually you should know how this works.Abandoned? Itll be one year in a couple weeks since the last update.
He doesn't want to feel pressured by himself to deliver on a schedule by having a patreon or similar. As I understand it its more about his mental health than the actual financials and I respect that. He wants this to be a thing he enjoys doing rather than something he either delivers on a self imposed schedule or feels guilty about not being able to deliver on said schedule.Spent the morning reading the comments here. Good for him getting a great paying job.
I get it. But he never even gave it chance to compete financially and thats not fair.
Why not set it up and see? That I dont get, not even a little. Sighs
Some developers see their projects solely as a hobby for their free time. In addition, very few developers earn enough from patronage to actually be able to quit their 9 to 5 job. For example, $3.000 (which is well above average) a month from Patron might look fine on paper, but most people forget that those sums after taxes and other deductions are shrinking significantly.Spent the morning reading the comments here. Throwing away a well paying and reliable job for something as unreliable and volatile as making crowd funded porn games is a very very bad idea.Spent the morning reading the comments here. Good for him getting a great paying job.

He had one at one point but people started asking for things from him. Hitting dates, put this kind of content, and the dev said "nah" and shut it all off. My ethical and morals would have me doing a hard time doing that as well while I do a full time job. This would be a side hobby and me making my game - is just that. I make it for fun. I work 50+ hours a week for my main job. When I get to the weekends and late nights, that is my fine time. There are darned few that can make that good a living (the $300k) that you mentioned. Yeah you can turn on the spigot and see what happens, but at the end of the day, you have to deal with the emotional stuff that goes with it along the way. Then you have to decide do I give up health care, benefits, retirement for a game. The answer for me, I know my dollar figure. It would have to be about $500k a year. I am not that good a dev or writer.Spent the morning reading the comments here. Good for him getting a great paying job.

A bit of a correction. He ran Patreon with a "payment on releases" model from the start. This means that Patrons were only charged upon release of an update. I don't think anyone really complained or asked for releases. I don't remember how many updates he had this page for. I think Chapter 1 and Chapter 2, maybe? Someone might correct me on this.He had one at one point but people started asking for things from him. Hitting dates, put this kind of content, and the dev said "nah" and shut it all off. Uh-ho. What have you done now?..
Hello! Hello!
It's taken a while to get back into the dark arts of Honey Select (Oh how I didn't miss parts of the process), but production is ongoing with Chapter 6.
No deadlines. See how it goes. But I have committed to hours per week, come Hell or high water.
I'll make sure the next update is sexy... (ish).
Maybe once it's complete you could release it on Steam as they seem to have no interest in blocking hentai anymore. Not sure if HS renders could actually cause copyright issues, but I believe it's worth checking out, when the game is nearing completion (whenever that is). This has been covered a few times, but there's a hundred pages here, so just to clarify...
I had a Patreon that gathered funds (on chapter release) for the first three chapters. However I wasn't happy on Patreon, due to Patreon things, but also because I felt that I was being unfair with the delivery times.
To be clear, all of my patrons were fantastic, I just felt that I had a ticking clock following me around.
And, this is important, I made a grand total of $160 for my entire time on Patreon. I could've made some more with Chapter 4, but that's when I stopped collecting funds.
So, as a platform, the only thing Patreon was any good for was the fantastic, but double-digits number of supporters. I appreciated every cent, but that soon wasn't the point of being on Patreon anymore.
Of course I'd like to make some cash with this, but I think the reality is that, like Patreon, this thread is a bubble of fantastic and vocal supporters that doesn't translate into a viable income irl.
Never say never on other funding avenues, but it won't be Patreon and it won't be something that will ever replace a job or support my time.
idk, i never seen HS indie game on steam.Maybe once it's complete you could release it on Steam as they seem to have no interest in blocking hentai anymore. Though it's a completely different game and genre, Unturned is a game on Steam (it's different in every way). The model it was released with that the game is completely free with a 5$ DLC that which really just gave the player some very basic cosmetics and access to Gold servers (which didn't really change much). I believe a similar model could work for you as it functions more like a tip jar. Maybe the DLC could offer something like a digital manual or HD renders.
Anyways, it's always good to see these peeks. Let's me speculate about possible things that could happen.
