Try to use as short pass as possible. Even rename game folder to smth like "KK" example good path: D:\Games\KK

Do you have anti-aliasing on? press F1 and under plugin settings search for graphics settings
In material editor, export all the textures under the body section of the body tab and then import them in the legwear tab under the m_thigh section. You can also use the blendshape versions which do this automatically.
Thank you very much for taking the trouble to respond and solve my problem, and at the same time solve porno74 problem, I also had the same problem, so it's two for the price of one.
I used GIMP for the conversion, which gave me an identical filesize to the bmp file. As for quality, I re-exported the same file with max compression, which gave me a filesize of ~8mb. I couldn't see any real differences between the compressed and uncompressed version in-game, but I technically need glasses to drive so I just uploaded the uncompressed version.
